Must check with the local office first.

The best practice for changing to income method is simply have the transfers and have the 400k in the bank.

This way if you are for some reason denied, you have the required money to fall back on.

Even one error and you would be denied.

They can even ask to match your foreign transfer accounts to prove origin of the funds.

I've seen/helped match thai account statement and foreign account statements, to prove origin.

It is not the "norm" but a exception.

The income method for marriage is usually work permit and preferred.

The date stamped under consideration is the date it is scheduled to be complete.

Do as you are and check, when it says approved go in for the final stamp.

It may be done earlier, but more often than not it will be the date as stamped.

Unless I miss understand.

You are hoping to apply for an OA visa, only available through embassies.

And then your spouse to apply for a non-o based on being dependant on your OA.

Yes this doable only through an embassy.

You cannot get a dependant on retirement in country.

Otherwise it is 2 non-o visas thru embassy also , so you may enter and get a bank account.

@Deepak ******
YOU CANNOT obtain an OA inside Thailand. You can get a non-o 90 day if you have a bank account already

@Doug ******
yes a non-o visa will in most cases not be questioned at all. And able to open the needed account for the future.

it will actually be same 7 day "denial" that has always existed. Requiring proof of exit within the 7 days. It will still be a discretionary entry rule.For those that display "tourist " behaviors they can be allowed multiple tourist entries per year. This is aimed at "back to back" entries, maximum stays and of course stamp histories that show a pattern of abusing the system to "live" in Thailand. IMO it will be tough for a while to stay for more 5 months per year as a tourist.
