No-one has a "right" to a bank account. It's up to the bank and its policies. At this stage Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn will not entertain tourists

You're obviously not up to date. Both Bangkok Bank and Kasikorn are now closing accounts held by foreigners with only tourist visas

Banks won't open accounts for tourists. Even with paying bribes they're now reluctant to do this after the recent scam exposed at Bangkok Bank.

Only your embassy or consulate can answer that question accurately, as they all tend to operate to different policies. Which category of DTV are you applying for?

You cannot apply for the DTV in Thailand. It has to be done through an embassy

It's actually a worldwide initiative and Bangkok Bank is not the only bank who will freeze accounts if customers details are not verified. This is a Santander UK email a couple of months ago

But they don't. I got a letter week before last no problem, but my branch is in Bangkok
