I hace only been loving in Chiang Mai 6 months and it has really grown on me. Moved here at the right time as I started to quieten down. Still love Bangkok but only for a visit or when I worked there.

I have seen posts in other groups too. People waiting 17 days without access when they were told 3 to 5. Bangkok Bank have not exactly been a shining example of efficiency with this. Everything must be decided at HQ.

Nope - it is only certain embassies. Outside of Laos it it not usual.

Sorry you had such a bad experience. As I said I thought when they had an IO dedicated to the DTV it was a positive and wouldbe easier to extend. Cheap Air Asia flight to Hanoi??

Was it airport or Central Fesitval? Chiang Mai is seen as a "Good" IO usually. When I heard they had appointed a dedicated officer for DTV I took that to be a positive.

PS: The Bank Certificate you mentioned is required for all longer term visa renewals Like O and B. It is valid 7 days from issue by the bank. 12 month statement also required. Banks usually charge for this in Thailand.

If you can get the LTR it is a much better visa than both DTV and Retirement O. There is a 10 year Retirement O-X too but I do not know much about that.
