My advice would be keep as much as you possibly can flexible. Book directly with the airline for your flights. Any hotels you book look for a good cancellation policy. Even the one night Quarentine can be flexible. Look for easy ability to change dates and ability to get a refund if the rules change.
I have to agree. I have seen the inside of the IDC and I hope beyond hope that I will never be held there myself.
That is why I always deal with my own immigration, am a member of this group so I can get the best advice if something does go wrong and will never go near a visa agent of any kind.
I would second Rob's answer. Three of my friends have recently set up accounts In Hua Hin for friends. All that was required was a certificate of residence from Immigration. All very efficient and no hard sell on insurance.
I am agreeing with you. Why would anyone have a passport in a name that is not their own? Furthermore to this expect there not to be problems down the line.
The first thing to do is get both passports in her name whichever passport is wrong then correct it. If it is the Thai Passport the process to Chang the name is very simple. Go to your nearest Thai Embassy with the passport and documents supporting the name change and they will make the nessessary changes. In our case it was an observation on the first blank page of the passport. All airline tickets were purchased in her married name. When the passport was renewed the new passport was in my wife's married name.
Alternatively as Rob says your wife continues to use her maiden name.
stated please don't take legal advice from a Facebook group. None of us know what has or hasn't happened so far as arrest warrents. You have interacted with the police and they have your passport details.
Go and get yourself a Lawyer and take proper advice.
