ORIGINAL POSTER
Good morning

My Thai girlfriend is in the uk on a visitors visa,

Looking to take her to Spain for a weekend for the MotoGP in early October.

Believe she will need a visa, any advice on obtaining one would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
To travel from the UK to Spain, your Thai girlfriend will need a Schengen visa, which must be applied for in her home country, Thailand. It's advisable to check with the Spanish embassy for requirements and processing times. As she is currently on a UK visitor visa, she may not be able to apply for the Schengen visa from the UK, and it is crucial to ensure her visa circumstances allow for reentry into the UK after a trip abroad.

Reminds me of the good old days when Britain was part of the EU. Insanity. Dumbest move of all time. Each Brexit vote should be forced to submit to weekly lashings

But I remember the end of the 80s when Allen sugger or not sure is name big business man. Advertise on British TV promoting the EU...

Norway IS part of Schengen, always has been. As a citizen, you should certainly be aware of this. A bit embarrassing otherwise Maya.

She needs Shengen Visa to go to Spain. She can apply it at Spain embassy in UK. And if she only has single entry visa for UK, she probably require to apply another visa to go back to UK. Then, she can apply it from UK embassy in Spain. This is the limitation of us, Thai people, who has to apply to visa to almost every country. 🤣

if she has entered the UK on a visitor visa, she can not apply for a Schengen visa in the UK. She will need to return to Thailand and apply there which in this case is not practical.

Just to confirm, your gf definitely requires a Schengen visa to visit Spain. We went to the UK in summer and we had to get a separate Schengen visa in Thailand so she could visit her sister in Germany. It was not an easy process tbh, I don’t know if we messed up saying she was visiting her sister, but they wanted a mountain of information from her and her husband. It might have been better to say we were going on holiday but we were advised the visa would be denied unless we were visiting someone.

Is it possible for UK to ever return to the EU?

The UK only left the EU on 31 Jan 2020. However, since then, we've successfully sealed bilateral FTAs with Japan, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Australia, New Zealand and made significant progress on a bilateral FTA with India. We've also negotiated our accession to the CPTPP.

He's right not to be optimistic. It will take a long time to occur, if ever it does. But I think, in the end, we will have to rejoin or face total ruin!

She probably entered on a single-entry UK visa so if she could leave she wouldn't be allowed back in (or is that your cunning plan?).

UK visitor visas aren’t single entry, you can leave an re enter as long as its within the original visa dates

Unless she is on leave to enter / remain visa - they will not approve a visa for her . You need to have status where u apply from

! I guess I sounded so stupid , using the word Europe instead of CE .5555. I thought UK was from a continent called the mooooon .

Anyway , if people from UK , ever wished to come back inside the CE , I myself would be happy for them if they succeed . Conditions though: they respect the rules, they don't require any privilege !!!

And why not join the common money EURO !

And why not join the Schengen community , it would really help all our friends who have a thai companion girl or boy . Specially the english guy who first ask the question .

Otherwise they can stay on the continent Moooon . LOL .😉

up to them .I know hundreds of Uk cityzens . They all wished they stayed in the CE. .

You say they don't want to rejoin CE ? 5555 . Because truck drivers enjoin waiting for 3 days at the french border, they love having empty shelves in super markets , they love shortage of toilet paper 🤣.they love not finding employees . They're happy not being able to travel freely all over the european continent .

They love not to be able to settle their company in Europe .they lovee not being able to enjoy the totaly free french health system . It would take pages and pages .... 😭😭😭😭😭

as someone who is currently in the UK, the supermarket shelves are full and there is plenty of toilet paper. Brits can still travel all over the EU without needing visas, the only difference now being a visa is needed to work there. The same with EU nationals coming to the UK.

wasn’t that the marketing part of the leave campaign? We’ll save 300m a day for the NHS. Maybe I’m wrong on figures. Wasn’t there. Took little interest as I couldn’t vote. Been away too long.

it did make a difference because you could apply for a Schengen visa in the UK. Having the UK visa you were 90% there with Schengen. Now she will need to apply in Thailand.

Ea Sy no work around. That’s how it is. I was confronted by this same problem recently. So I opted to going to Dubai and Turkey instead of Europe as those two countries don’t require a visa for Thai nationals.

but it’s not a Schengen visa, it’s a single visa for each country that you need to enter.

I have never seen a Schengen visa, I have seen visa exempt to Schengen countries but never a Schengen visa.

A single entry into Schengen. As long as you don't go outside Schengen, you can travel between the Schengen countries. Great Britain is not a Schengen member.
