Several alternatives exist for obtaining a marriage visa in Thailand if you do not have the required 400,000 THB in a bank account. One option is to apply for a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa at the Thai consulate in Savannakhet, Laos, which costs around 5,000 THB and does not require financial proof. This visa allows for entry into Thailand for 90-day intervals, following border runs for renewal. Others suggest proving a monthly income of 40,000 THB or using an agent to facilitate visa acquisition. However, some warn against marrying solely for visa benefits, emphasizing the importance of genuine intent.

Not the day I was there (Wed. 25-Jan), I was in the queue just after 8:30 and about 8 in front of me, about 8 in the queue behind me as I was leaving at 9:25). I used "Bob" across the road to fill in the form for 200B so I was ready when the gates opened at 9am. No queue just after 2pm the following day to collect my passport.
Not anymore with the recent clampdown (unless it's a legitimate enterprise, then perhaps yes).

I think the only other way is to show an income of 40k thb a month. That was the case with me but many years ago so not sure if they still allow this or not.
that sounds like the magic number but not enough to support a whole family maybe yourself and your wife an expenses in your own home but not for two or three other households.
wow your going for broke. The family will want you to purchase a few cows buffalo and maybe get a tractor and a pickup truck. You are in knee deep my brother.
bank statements from where? Unless he has been depositing the 40k every single month for a year into a Thai account or get get a Affadavit from his Embassy certifying his income.
det var den dummaste kommentaren på en ärlig fråga jag hört på länge.
Har du inget vettigt att säga som hjälp så är det bättre att du är tyst

You can work as an english teacher and get your visa through school.then you don't have to show 400k every year.that 400k visa requirement doesn't make any sense.how many married thai people have that kind of money just relaxing in their accounts🤣plus you don't need 400k to live in thailand.i have been here for 8 years now.and i can tell you that cost of living is just normal.this is just one of the unfair treatment of farangs by Thai immigration.married people should not be on visa in the first place especially married people with kids.i hope you get solution for your problem.good luck
Totally agree, the 400K in the bank is nuts, especially since it needs to be parked in your Thai account for 2 months before the application. For what? It's stupid. They can ask for 400K if they want, but it should be enough to show a current bank statement or credit card statement from back home, showing an available balance equivalent to 400K (perhaps certified by the bank or your embassy).
it's so the bank's can lend out farang money to Thais and charge interest

Marry a Thai guy! He will have to look after you.

Plenty of foreign women are married to Thai men. It's so easy for them to stay long term in Thailand. They get extensions without needing money in the bank and can also easily acquire Thai citizenship.
At the Royal Thai Consulate in Savannakhet Laos you can get a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a Thai for 5000B non-fraudulently in 2 days as stated above.
Yes in January, stayed two nights to be there in the queue before 9am on the first morning then pick up passport with visa at 2pm the following afternoon. You could stay the one night if you're travelling not too far (or overnight) the first morning to be there early as soon as the bridge opens.
Yes. But they will not marry you if you do not have 400k in the bank yourself. They will also not marry you if you drive a smaller car than they have / than the BMW their parents gave to them as a birthday present. I have experience with this 😁
I agree 100%. Bearing in mind the 400k only needs to be in the bank for a very limited time. Once you have the visa start building up a history of transferring 40k a month. After 12 months you will have the history.
if you are talking about the 400k that needs to be in your accounts 2 months before you apply for the extension. Some offices require you to leave it there for the pending period and want to see it again the day they ink the extension into your passport. Phetchaburi is not one of those offices so at Phetchaburi the requirements are only 2 months.
At the Thai consulate in Savannakhet Laos you can apply for a year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai for 5000baht.
That visa does not require any financial proof to get. It's valid for unlimited entry for a year from the date it's issued. You get stamped in for 90 days when you enter. When that runs out, you go to the border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of another country and right back into thailand to get a NEW 90 day stamp. You do that for the whole year the visa is valid for.
You can also get a 60 day visiting Thai family extension on one of your 90 day entries during that year.
do you have a better way to convince me. Have done it or know someone who has done it or used it. If a Visa is valid for a year you don't have to leave. If you leave and return it changes to tourist. But if issued by Thai Consular maybe it something different.
wow, why does anyone need to convince you .. go read on the immigration website to understand how a Visa is valid for a 12 month period but only allows for to stays in the kingdom for upto 90 days at a time in the valid visa period ... Convince yourself without the need of being skeptical of people who give good information....
you miss the point don't you ... Or is it just a desperate need to look smart, so much so that you start picking and choosing from various Visa's to try and prove some obtuse point .... Do I look like I need to help you, I'm basically calling you a lazy person who wastes others time, but then you try to come back at me like I should be helping you ... 🤣😂🤣 ... It's a big world, go find someone else to play with, or just do your own research and fade away .. 😁😁
go have another drink. You get triggered way to easily. I'm definitely not as gullible as you seem to be. It is certainly interesting that a visa like this is possible and will go and investigate it further.
I have done it previously, multi entry visa, valid 1 year for 90 days stays. You can enter Thailand anytime during the year validity but stay only 90 days each time.
Do not ask questions unless you are ready to accept answers that contradict what you think you knew. Brandon and others here are extremely knowledgeable. +, if you "border run" without having a multi-entry you will come back on a visa exempt entry, not a tourist visa. A tourist visa cannot be obtain at the border. That alone tell me that you haven't been here long. Brandon is 100% correct about Multi Entry Tourist Visa and Multi Entry Non-O.
have you ever heard of a multi-entry Tourist visa? It's valid for 6 months but you still only get 60 days when you enter and if you want more time you have to leave and return. To even apply for it at your home country you have to show a flight into Thailand, a flight out of Thailand, and another flight back into Thailand. It's for people who will be coming and going from Thailand, just like the multi-entry non-O visa.
skeptical about what? It's a multiple entry non-O that many people use because they'll either be traveling in and out of Thailand often or they don't have or want to put 400,000₿ in a Thai bank account. Your skepticism doesn't change that the visa exists or how it works.
if you decide to go this route, be aware they only have an application for the single entry non-O but you can just write "multiple" on the top of the application form and pay the 5000₿. Make sure you have proof of your marriage to a Thai of course.
Don't go to Vientiane because they don't offer the multiple entry and may require proof of funds.
