funny thing is, that although you are correct, there will be no u-turn or change of mind or even the chance to ask for it, there would be no 'losing face' - nobody gives a f$ck, but we would all be so grateful and appreciative of any I/O who thought outside of the box and could see the full picture here and sign it off. To have to leave the country and come in and start again is a ball-ache. But it is what it is, and that, is thailand. Good luck with that 🙏
I achieved a bank account on an ED visa, at Krungsri on Samui, in a quieter town. Told them I was buying a property, which I was, but I'm sure you could convince them if you tried. Charm, it is known as.
"simply use your overseas ATM card" and pay 220 baht at the machine, then 3% of the withdrawal to my uk bank, so a whopping £12 (6%) on just 10,000 baht taken out. So if you want to throw away 6% of all your spending here, just use your atm card ftom your bank back home (although my bank is pretty bad for this)
using it for what exactly ? Assuming he's not a thai national then ? Has he ever been asked by the police or other authority to show his International AND license from his home country ? I've been driving here for 10 years, with just a single sheet of toilet paper for a driving licence, it works just fine, only my insurance wont accept it. 😝
you can count it as whatever the f@ck you like, but it's an IDP, you have got an 'International Driving Permit' which has exactly the same benefits and restrictions as the rest of the 170 countries that signed the treaty. But you carry on driving wherever and whenever you like, and tell the local traffic police that you got an International licence, the only one in the world, except for those bought online for $29.
