How can I transfer money from my Wise account to my Thai bank account if I can't access my account?

Hello. I am trying to download to one of my bank accounts (very likely in Thailand, where the transfer fees and exchange rate fees are relatively low) some money that a tech-savvy donor parked in a Wise (formerly Transferwise) account for me. Unfortunately, this evening I am unable to find any advice on the Web about how to do this. Could somebody point me to a good weblink? Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user is seeking help to transfer money from their Wise (formerly Transferwise) account to a Thai bank account. They are having difficulty accessing their Wise account due to losing their phone number associated with it and ask for advice on both accessing their account and the steps to initiate the transfer. The responses provide general instructions for logging into Wise, initiating a transfer to a bank account, and an alternative method to reset their account access by using their email.

Unfortunately, when I tried to log into Wise, it eventually gave me the choice of receiving their two-step code through SMS, phone call, or WhatsApp, all three of which are tied to a phone number that is no longer available to me. Wise did not seem to offer any way of changing the phone number that they have tied to my account, nor any way of turning off this "second step" (the two-step verification processes increasingly favored by big companies' webmasters increasingly "lock me out" of their websites through measures like this). Any suggestions on what to try next?

I thought I should mention to everybody who has been trying to help me here that I also received the following helpful response from the webmaster and IT person at the organization Global Scholars, where I have been a "Faculty Associate " since 2014 --- "It sounds like what you are trying to do is take money from a Wise account and transfer it to your Thai bank account. If that's what you are trying to do then based on my search, you will need to log in to your Wise account and then choose the amount you want to send, enter your banking information and select "bank transfer" as the method of payment. . . . Let me know if this is what you were looking for or if I am missing something." [I am about to make another try at accessing Wise, using various people's suggestions, and will try to let you all know what I learned... -- EZ]

Jeez, it seems you really are the person in your profile picture. I wish you all the best 🙏

Yup. That's me. Though I currently sport a "skinhead" look (not my personal choice, but once it happened, my Facebook friends voted in favor of keeping it by a ratio of nearly 4 to 1, so I kept it...)

1. I will probably be using their website, not their app. 2. I thought I was pretty clear that I am *not* sending money: instead I am trying to *receive* money that someone has parked into my Wise account (which I have not used recently) without telling me clearly how to receive the money into my bank account. 3. The amount of the transfer is 100 Singaporean dollars, so probably within Wise's funds transfer limit (though thanks for that detail, as I was unaware of it). And most important, 4. I no longer know my Wise account and no longer have the phone number that I may have used back when creating the Wise account (in *some* first world websites, such as the one created by Chase Bank, changing my phone number renders the site inaccessible). So please inform me if your instructions need to be modified, and if so how?

OK. If I can get them to send me an email, then I should be able to access my account. A lot of websites, including some of the "big and powerful" ones, are no longer willing to do that. So thanks for the info.

you ARE sending money. You are sending money from your Wise account to your bank account.

There is a "forgot password" link after you enter your email address. Click that and it will send you an email that you can use to get back into your account.

On the website. Click these 3 lines. The next page says 2 options. LOG IN or REGISTER.

Select LOG IN and do the same steps.

Transfers to Thailand take 1-2 days usually.

You can transfer into THB. But you cannot put THB into Wise.

On the wise app. It says LOG IN on the first page. If you have an account simply LOG IN using your email and password.

Then it says SEND MONEY. You select send money and pick your country/ currency/ and type in the account details you want to transfer to.

There are only 3 banks in Thailand that allow over a 50,000 baht transfer. It says this right on wise when making a deposit.

If you do not already have a Wise account the “donor” couldn’t have put your money there.

I am still trying to figure out how to find my Wise account on the Wise website. The words "Wise account" do not appear anywhere on the screen, that I can see.

Sketchy.

If it's in your wise account, log into your own account at wise, once logged in it's all pretty self explanatory.

It should be rather straightforward. You need the account information, and then you just initiative the transfer from your Wise balance to the bank account that you enter into the app or the website.

Would that be the Wise account information? (I have never used my Wise account, so may have to get a bit creative), or do you mean my BANK account information (which I have with me)?

Right. However, at this point, even when in the Wise home page, I cannot figure how where to navigate within their website to "tell Wise to send the money" -- because the home page I see seems designed for initiating Money transfers only. (I realize I am probably overlooking something, but it is really not obviously located on the page, at least not for those of us who are not used to using the "Wise account" function.

@Edwin *******
Wise already has your wise account information. You are telling Wise where to send the money.

Can you clarify what you are asking?

You don't download a bank account, that doesn't make any sense.

You have money that's sitting in a Transferwise account right now? What are you trying to do with it?

Yes. The money is setting in my Wise (Transferwise) account, and the donor claimed that I can download that money to the bank account of my choice. (I had actually instructed him to make a direct transfer to one of my bank accounts, but he chose to park the money in my Wise (Transferwise) account instead, and I am still trying to figure out how to turn this intended donation into a real donation. Make sense?

He is Singaporean, and I assume that Singaporeans are sometimes pretty savvy about these things. If I remember right, he said that when doing the transfer, he noticed that I had a Wise account, so he put the money there. I see that that Wise is increasingly advertising itself as a place to hold money "between borders" (almost like an international bank, complete with its own banking card), so his claim may be legit.

How has he parked funds in your transfer wise account if you didn’t give him tranferwise account details. Sounds like they are having you on.
