Anytime I land at Suvarnabhumi I always dodge the female officers, even back when I was entering on visa exempt they would badger me a lot, if I'm next in line and it's a female officer I tell the person behind to go ahead because I need to get documents out of my bag etc.

just visa exempt, TBF it was Phuket airport and I've found immigration/security usually poke around more at smaller airports in general because they're bored out of their minds

they did the same to me on my very first visit to Thailand 3 years back along and asked for proof of funds and hotel reservation etc (UK national here). I've been in and out over 20 times ever since and they've never even blinked an eye now, just stamp and move on. First entry with DTV immigration officer was just watching football on his phone and stamped me in without looking 😅

SuccessfullinMalaysia Kuala Lumpur is notorious for being strict but it's good you got there in the end 🤘

Apply at HCMC they're a bit more forgiving and will let you know what documents they want if needed. Don't listen to the tin foil hatters here about "local employment" and "permission" etc.

Got mine back in February (workcation route) in Vietnam and they were really thorough but fair. They verified my employment etc but if they were stricter I still wouldn't mind. Only ones complaining are usually the dosser backpackers trying to squeeze on the soft power Muay Thai or cooking class route 😅

Happened to me twice, they were cool with it when I went out to renew the 180 days etc just show them the visa paper with the QR and you'll be sound

Just doss out and chill with a beer 🍺 and forget you even did the application. I did it whilst in Da Nang and just got lost on the beaches and hiking etc and totally forgot about it until I got the approval email
