Ed visas are designed in a way that it is assumed you will be studying/attending classes, and maybe taking the occasional short break if you need.

Buy a direct flight to KUL or HKG from Samui. Better than being on overstay.

If you really must have it, you can also get the residency certificate the same day if you go to one of the agencies directly in promenada mall.
