Hello, my last extension of my ED visa is due but I want to change to tourist visa. I have two passports one is full and the second is empty and new. Do I have to cancel the last extension? And how can I get out with the both passports? I am traveling next Monday for a tourist visa to Vientiane through Nong Khai. Thanks in advance!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on transitioning from an ED (Education) visa to a tourist visa while having two passports—one full and one empty. They inquire if it is necessary to cancel the last extension of their ED visa and how to travel using both passports. Community responses advise that the user must secure a cancellation letter from their school, which is required to officially cancel the extension at the immigration office. Additionally, they must be mindful that switching passports is only permissible when flying out of the country, and not when crossing at Nong Khai.
You have to cancel your Extension of Stay with a letter from your school. You only can switch between passports if you fly out the country. If you want to use Nong Khai border you can not switch to other passport or apply for a new visa in a new passport.
At every Thai Embassy, but you have to use an airplane, flying out Thailand to switch passports. So check out Thailand with old passport, sit in an airplane and switch passports, check in other country with new passport and than apply for a visa at a consulate.
you have to get the school to write you a cancellation letter which you then take to immigration office to cancel and get a new stamp with the date you must leave by.
So its important that you get the school to date it for the time you leave
