Thanks Tod. Just trying to clarify who and on what basis someone would want/receive a transit via as opposed to a tourist visa or, where applicable, VOA. Seeing this often requested by Indian tourists "transiting" through BKK when their connection leaves airside (passes immigration) in which case they need another VOA.
you should have no problem getting another visa-exempt 30-day entry with fly-in after a week "back home". What the authorities are targeting is repeat back-to-back border hoppers who appear to be abusing the system to stay here indefinitely.
At some point it becomes fairly obvious he/she is not a "tourist", at the discretion of immigration (or consular) officer each time, they can say "no". Agree proof of funds was missing in this case, but no 100% guarantee with so many repeat In-Out-In's
Intending to stay most of each year (6-9 months) look at METV, non-imm-o, or education visa options. Trying to stay long term on consecutive SETVs and visa-exempts will fail at some point (and apparently already has).
Get a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) for unlimited entries during 6 months. You can even get another 60 days at the end of the validity period.
OR if METV requirements are too harsh, get a Single (SETV) for 60 days then extend 30, then get another SETV at neighboring Thai consulate and repeat. Add a quick border bounce at the end for the last 30 days visa exempt.
