This question constantly comes up. Why bother with the nonsense when you can just rent someplace and be done with it.
If the visas are too much of a hassle just stay a couple of months then go and explore a new or neighboring country or a bit of time and continue on. The nightmares of bad lawyers, terrible wife’s and in-laws looking at you as a ATM those are the common stories along with lack legal protection constantly changing laws that can go retro active. This is not just a issue in Thailand most of the country’s laws are crazy nationalistic like that. Rent don’t buy the truth is only a handful are allowed to really participate in making proper money
I remember when the manufacturing was going down because the Baht was too strong and manufacturing jobs were being lost those people in the manufacturing sector were told to get into the tourism sector. The employment numbers reflect people that are in the formal economy but the informal economy like food vendors or people working in markets are not counted then there is the trickledown effect.
There will be massive unemployment that the country has never seen. There doesn’t really seem unless it’s the mega rich tourism if I recall that was the aim of the Tourist Industry and the Chinese market the rest were not really wanted. People that live in neighboring countries who depended on Thailand for medical treatment?
When or if the medical tourism will continue will be seen. This Corvid health insurance 🤷‍♂️ any links available to at least let tourist know the costs? what would be costs if people have to go into quarantine that’s if the Corvid test given is even reliable ? Plenty of tests that are made in China not very accurate. 🤷‍♂️
