Well I’ll give this a try!

I am from USA! Have visited Thailand numerous times prior to the virus!

Please I know can’t go now or in July as a tourist!

I am retired military and covered by TriCare Medical Insurance.

To use in Thailand I must pay up front then get reimbursed!

Anyway does anyone know is this sufficient proof to enter Thailand?

And I will

Need a medical certificate and recent COVID test?

Thx

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses inquiry from a retired military member from the USA about entering Thailand, along with related comments about potential requirements amidst COVID-19 concerns. Multiple commenters express uncertainty about the specific conditions for tourists, noting that entry requirements are still unknown and suggesting patience until the situation stabilizes. They mention various opinions about possible insurance coverage needed, particularly concerning COVID-19, and discuss the low likelihood of US tourists being prioritized for entry amid ongoing pandemic restrictions.

Americans can always enter if they say "please"

I live in northern Ireland and i have a british passport but ive been thinking of applying for an irish passport as in the north we can have dual nationality and can hold 2 passports.i feel it might be easier to travel to Thailand on an irish passport instead of my british passport as ireland are doing well for containing the virus
Nathan ***************
@Gary *********
personally I think using your Irish passport in the future for anything may be better as england is going down the proverbial shitter and it won’t be that much longer until the U.K. has it’s doors shut in the Far East in a few destinations and nothing to do with covid lol
Nathan ***************
And the same debate continues with no one knowing anything

Any chance of a few more gratuitous exclamation marks? I don't think there were enough in your OP ...

not going as tourists though

Wife and marriage are the reasons

It seems all advice is aimed at the tourist.. that being the keyword of course

I was referencing this in relation to Gene's inquiry. He is a tourist.

yeah I get you mate .. just someone had some wires crossed the other day over similar issue and found it a great chance to belittle me just for sharing some information I had found

As most things I’ve read online or in this group tend to be focusing on tourist entries and not marriage or work entries where we have a different priority of entry

It’s nice that some folk can actually be helpful whereas others just have to be a d**k (duck) thanks for clarifying

The government is going to change its mind ten times between now and the end of the year when they open borders. Wait. Contact the Thai embassy then.

they've announced today proposal to start letting in 1,000 foreign tourists per day without restrictions but even if that happens it'll only be a few low-risk countries for a while

Edit: just seen you're a Yank, don't think US counts as low-risk

@Alan ******

is changing daily. I read earlier that some tourists could come in with no restrictions

@Alan ******
I know the announcement you refer to - there were still restrictions such as COVID test before leaving home country and test after arriving here - that was the 1000 a day report in BKK post earlier
Alan *******
@Greg *******
well, minimal restrictions then
Greg ********
@Alan ******
Yeah I was discussing it with a pal at work this morning. He was happy about the earlier announcement and willing to pay for both tests as long as he can get out for a few weeks next month.

I too contacted my insurance company they told me Corvid was too new of a issue for them to figure out at this time.

I checked online and there were lots of scammers out there so be careful of those kind of insurance.

there's a new disease from crows? (Sorry - couldn't resist).
Glen ********
Sorry No. I am an American living in Thailand and can not visit the US now. Best to wait until later next year. America is on the low priority list for allowing tourists here.
Steve **********
Ditto what everyone said. But as far as TriCare goes there is no verbiage in the statement of benefits that specifically says “Covid 19” coverage or whatever you want to call it.

I thought I remember that when they were asking for returnees to have coverage it had to specifically state Covid coverage.

So looking in the magic 8 ball IF they require the same thing down the road you’ll probably need some sort of external policy specifically for Covid.
Si ***********
This is my cover note from my healthcare cover in Thailand. I won’t be back till October so hopefully things won’t be so bad.
Hugh ********
Just wait, you cant enter anyway, and by the way the west is acting atm I doubt they will be allowed in for some time
Daniel ************
you cannot -
Sammy *******

they require insurance for the OA, I thought, not to have any covid restrictions--not many will have that.

much of this statistic is also based on a huge surge in testing. In the past we had to have Dr script to get tested, now widely available at drive up locations. It took us way to long getting equipped to do so. Instead of consistent lockdowns the same in every state, the state governments were responsible . As a result few were the same. Created confusion and a guessing game. By choice I am still isolating, social distancing and wearing a mask in public places, grocery store, post office etc. avoid crowds etc.
Michael ********
@Edna ******
its common sense look at all the crowds protesting. Figures have suggested for whatever reason covids has been spreading at greater pace through minorities. There is a surge in the states now they reckon from memorial day weekend. I think numbers will escalate the longer the protests go on.
Sammy *******
@Michael *******
I think I read that still 1000 people a day are dying in the US.
David ****************
@Sammy ******
Not far off (see attached) but then you also have places with low cases. Hawaii has relatively low cases and has already been negotiating with Japan to make a travel bubble for Japanese tourists to skip inbound quarantine requirements. Hawaii may be a special case, though, since they are able to quarantine all out of state travelers from the US mainland.
Tod *********
you are just guessing on what might be required when the country re-opens, :/

NO ONE has the slightest idea what the actual requirements will be once they do decide to re-open the country.

I'd say sit back, calm down, watch for the news on when the country will re-open to "regular" foreigners (AKA tourists) and see what if any new entry requirements will be put in place at that time
Greg ********
Nobody knows now what rules will be for tourists. Things are very fluid.
Bobby ********
As you can't enter the country at this time, you'd be better advised to wait until borders are open again to see what the conditions are at that time
Garrett ***********
Hey Gene, currently there are no entry specifications or requirements for non work permit holders as Thailand has still not opened their borders. Until they make an announcement, no one will know the requirements.
