Hi guys. I'm leaving for Thailand in July with the non immigrant O type visa. I'm minded to apply now but was wondering if my 90 days starts from issuance or arrival. Anyone know?

Currently on a Non-Imm-O, based on marriage. Will turn 50 a few days before the expiration date of the current extension. I prefer not to wait for the last minute and apply a few weeks earlier - can I apply for an extension of stay based on retirement before I am actually 50 ?

Good day! Tried to search Google first, so be kind …

Please help me with the confusion - retirement visa for Thailand at the age of 50. Do I need to have some monthly income (1850 USD per Google)? Obviously, at 50 years old I won’t be collecting my social security yet … is there a way to get retirement visa based on bank accounts balance or any trick around? Can I pay myself that darn 1850USD each month?

I have funds (sold all the assets in US) but not at retirement age yet

Thanks for your advice

Ps. Not 50 yet, not for a long while BUT already looking into my options outside of the US and EU

Hi everyone,

I am currently here as a 50+ with NON-IMM-O visa and extension of stay. Now I unexpectedly have to return to my home country and can only return when my extension of stay has expired. - In this case, do I have to apply for a new NON-IMM-O visa, or can I apply for the extension of stay directly from the 30-day 'Visa exemption stamp on arrival'?

(My bank account will be untouched >800k Baht)

Thanks in advance.

I am asking for a Swiss friend, as he is not capable of proficient English to follow the conversation. He is in a same sex marriage, officially married in Switzerland. His partner wants to apply for the 365-days Non-Imm-O visa based on retirement (he is over 50 and fullfills the financial requirements). As soon as his partner will get the visa issued, he wants to apply for the "90-days Non-Imm-O as a dependant of a foreigner holding a longstay permit for Thailand".

So my question is:

Do Thai Embassy or/and the Thai Immigration allow the "dependant" (trailing spouse) method in a same sex marriage?

If a foreign married couple wants to move to Thailand and the male part of them is over 50 and fulfills all requirements included the 800,000 THB deposit on a Thai bank account, applies for the Non-Imm-O visa based on being over 50/retirement in his home country, gets it issued, and the follow up yearly extension on Immigration in Thailand.

Can his partner apply for the “trailing spouse” ( “piggyback”) extension without showing proof of her own funds?

The reason I ask is, some people say that once the “piggyback spouse” turns 50 years, she must have her own 800,000 deposit in the bank account

Retirement Visa Application Inside Thailand, I've previously been staying on a Non-Imm-O -Multi as a UK pensioner - this has been amended to 3 months stay from 12 months. I'm aware of the financial and possible medical and police clearance requirements for a retirement visa, what is not so clear is proof of Thai address. I don't pay any rent where I stay. What do I need to provide and is there standard stationery for paying rent that immigration (Kanchanaburi) would recognise. Any practical advice would be welcome - Thank you.
