*UPDATE: I just want to add an update in case anyone else ever finds themselves in a similar situation. It worked out, however I was not able to transfer directly to the Dependent extension from my Non-Imm B extension. I had to first leave the country and apply for a Non-Imm O Visa as a Dependent at a consulate, return on that visa, and receive an extension that corresponded with my wife's extension at immigration. My extension follows hers, every 90 days. So, not the most convenient, but works for the time being. *
Hello Thai Visa Denizens,
I’m intending to apply for a Non-Imm O dependent extension based on my wife’s Non-Imm B visa and work permit. We are both American. I am on a P.30 stamp after leaving my previous company.
My wife’s company has provided me the required documents based on the details here ([members only]).
However, I’m a bit hung up on this clause at the bottom reading, “4. The accompanied person must have a permit to stay in the kingdom for a period of one year.”
My wife receives extensions of stay every 90 days, she does not receive an extension that allows her to stay for 1 year. However, she has to leave the country yearly in order to get a new B visa, which she then extends in country every 90 days.
Is this situation valid for the Non Imm O dependent visa? Or, do you need a 1 year extension to apply? I know I had previously received 2 year extensions from the BOI, so am not clear what is meant by this requirement for the dependent extension.
Any other tips folks have on applying for this extension are much appreciated as well. Thanks for reading and your help.
