Hi everyone,

I’m arriving in Thailand with a Non-Immigrant O visa (90 days), and I have a quick question:

Will I be required to show an onward/exit ticket when entering Thailand.

I’m planning to apply for a 1-year extension while staying in Thailand, so I don’t currently have a return ticket.

Would appreciate any recent experiences or advice. Thanks!

Is it true that you can’t buy a 1 way ticket into Thailand and must show proof of a return ticket or a ticket out of Thailand?

That sounds impossible if we come in on a 1 way ticket so we can make visas while we are there..

- Thank you everyone for your answers and opinions

Answer- YES

DTAC (digital Thai arrival card) that must be filled online before arrival asks for

*outbound ticket number

*outbound date

Your advice prompted me to apply for Non-immigrant visa online for my husband. - which HAD to be applied for whilst NOT IN Thailand.

So good thing I got onto that.

Then an extension applied at a Thai immigration centre when in Thailand.

Applied in Jakarta December 15th, requested more docs December 24th, stay permit in indo, uploaded immediately, requested more docs January 6th, every page of my passport again, uploaded immediately, I assumed it was to make sure I stayed here , approved January 8th🙏 my question is I’m returning tomorrow on a one way ticket , am I correct that we don’t need show proof of an onward ticket with the dtv? Thanks

Hi there.

This is a question regarding the onward/ return ticket requirement, upon travelling to Thailand on a 60-day visa exemption stamp.

I intend to stay in Thailand for approximately 90 days in this way, later applying for the 30-day extension … Then I intend to travel onward to Cambodia.

I was wondering though … Is it necessary to hold a return/ onward ticket that departs Thailand within 60 days … or would it suffice to have a flight out of there 89 days after the day of arrival (the flight I actually need).

I’ve been checked for the onward flight thing twice in the past when traveling to Thailand, but I’ve never had the same considerations about extensions and onward travel as I do now.

Your advice on this matter would be much appreciated

Thanks 🙏🏻

Please advise: We have a return flight ticket for 4 months in Thailand. When we travel into the country, do we need to have documentation that we are leaving Thailand within 60 days, so maybe buy a return ticket to Laos or Vietnam (3-4 days) in advance?

(US citizen) Wondering if i'll possibly have issues getting to thailand

I was in thailand for 86 days with visa extended from march till june 5th and have since been in malaysia.

My friends have planned a 4 day trip to krabi and I'm going but have only booked one way as im unsure if i'd like to go to somewhere like koh lipe or langkawi. Even though this trip wont last more than 10 days im wondering if I realistically could have problems and need to book a way out.

Thanks!

Hi all, I have returned to the UK after a 4 month stay, for the sale of my property. I am now looking to return to Thailand with no current thought of a leave date. Are there any concerns with a one way ticket on a DTV ? TIA

If I fly in on a tourist visa with the intent to convert it into a retirement O visa, do I purchase a round trip with a " throw away" onward ticket? I intend on using a visa agent.
