How do I manage the 60+30 day visa in Thailand and what are my options for booking flights?

Hi, may I ask how you handle the 60+30 day visa? Do you book your return flight directly for departure in 90 days? What happens if the extension isn't approved? On the other hand, I don't want to book my return flight for the 60th day if I plan to stay for 90 days.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion addresses concerns about managing a 60+30 day visa in Thailand, particularly regarding onward travel and return flight bookings. Key points include the likelihood of needing an onward ticket for airlines and immigration, advice on booking flexible flights, and the possibility of crossing into neighboring countries to reset the visa stay. It also touches on types of visas available for those under 50 and alternative options like the Non-O visa.

Non O visa much better vs. DTV , no need job, no need cross the border every 6 month and spend your value time and money for 2 ways air tickets 2 times per year!!! Also more easy to open bank account etc

Buy a bus ticket from Nong Khai to Vientiane (Laos). You don’t have to use it…

yes I understand but the bus ticket is helpful if your airline asks for proof you are leaving Thailand or the IO at Bangkok asks for your onward travel/return ticket.

Up to you to decide the flight issue timing separately.

Return ticket is not mandatory, only a ticket out of Thailand. Bus ticket is ok.

I have been denied flight by Etihad from Manchester to Bangkok because i did not have return ticket, just in November. Have to quickly by one. Immigration officer told me that if you fly on extention you suppose to book return ticket. If you have visa issued by Thai embassy you do not need return ticket

I have started booking flexible flights which gives me the option of doing a thirty day extension or if something happens regarding immigration and I can just go on the scheduled flight.

I understand. And is it true that after these 90 days, I can travel to a neighboring country for, say, 24 hours, and then immediately stay for another 90 days? And this can be done twice, so a total of 270 days per year? And is it enough if I simply take a bus across the border, or do I actually have to fly?

did I miss a step here? 1-90 day stay plus one more 90 day stay right after it equals 180 days. Where did you get the other 90 days? If you come in 60-day visa-exempt, extend for 30 more days for a total of 90 and do it a second time, you’ll probably be OK, but the next time you will likely be denied entry. You are not a tourist. You are the person they are trying to keep out.

Yes, i understand the Infos from Google wrong. The correct way is:

60+30, Visa Run, 60+7

So its 157 with 1 day out

good luck with that. Visa exempt is for short term tourism. Its not designed for living in Thailand. Get an appropriate visa

that's not going to work anymore. In fact leaving for a neighboring country for a very short period is going to raise a lot of suspicion.

But 60+30+60+7 is allowed actual. That is what i Read now in the Internet.

And for DTV Visum i Need a Remote Job or a Sport Contract.

I have saved Money and i want stay in Pattaya for 6-12 Month. So which Visa is Best for me? I Think Visa free with 1 Visa run = 157 days.

that seems to be the new regulation. However it remains to be seen how much time is generally needed to be out of Thailand before returning without a lot of questions

I guess you mean a visa exemption. If this is your first time, you don't have to worry about it. Just book the flight ticket, even if the departure is at the end of the additional days.

You are required by law to have a "ticket out" and as plenty of people mentioned: the airline is already checking for you if you are following the law, because: they have to fly you back on their costs, if immigration denies you entry, for what ever reason.

Immigration would rarely ask for an onward ticket but they can.

More likely your airline could have a hangup if you don’t have a ticket out within the number of days allowed by your entry scheme.

Some buy a flexible ticket. Others use an “onward ticket” site to “rent” one.

my partner was asked what our plans were for leaving Thailand and when. This was a month ago. Our airline also wanted confirmation of a return ticket or that we would be leaving Thailand within the 60 day visa exemption period.
