I am in UK and have just recieved my non-o (other) visa for intended retirement visa. With the stricter controls at Thai immigration would it be advisable to have exit ticket (eg train to Loas) ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
If you are entering Thailand on a Non-O visa, which is intended for retirement, you typically do not need to show an onward ticket. Users in the comments confirm that the regulations are not strict regarding exit tickets for this type of visa; many travelers have successfully entered Thailand on a one-way ticket without issues. However, it is advisable to have a backup plan or a potential exit ticket just in case of airline policy inquiries.

Stewart you don’t need an onward ticket, the only problem you may have is the airline, I flow KLM Norwich, Amsterdam, Bangkok, the check in girls at Norwich had never seen this visa before, and called there supervisor, who also had never seen this type of visa from Thailand, after some discussion they allowed me to board, I did have on my phone a cheap flight to Loas I could have booked and payed for just in case, but thankfully it was all sorted,

Hi its quite straight forward. I uploaded copy of driving licence showing proof of my address(they didn't accept the bill I uploaded originally). As I am not officially retired yet I had to upload bank statements for last 3 months salary going in....make sure each one had address on and join them as one document to upload. The other stuff straight forward...passport... photo etc.

No need for an onward ticket if you have the Non Imm O visa, which is your 'intended retirement visa'.

Probably not strict at all since you're exempt from onward ticket requirements.
