Hi all.. i need a little help from ex pats from uk.

Im currently in the uk , travelling on 9th may to basically spend most of my time in thailand on a marriage visa, my marriage visa just expired, so i have to re apply, no problem there.

The issue i have is my bank, santander, theyve gave me a nightmare whilst in thailand the last year. Theyre telling me i have to report to them every 90 days, they actually froze my account last year and i dont want the same hassle i had again.

So im asking if anyone can recommend a bank in the uk i can use, fully closing my santander accounts.

Thank you. Ray

Hello!!I want to ask about the payment method.

I will go to Hanoi to apply dtv next week. The problem is that I only have UnionPay card.

Does the embassy website support UnionPay card payment? Or do I need to prepare a visa card?also how much is the application fee in Vietnam?

Thank you so much for your help!!

Edit, I’ve had lots of feedback on this, and nobody recommended AMEX.

However, I’ve done a bit more research? And for a platinum Amex I will get a refund ( in airports $) of the full 12 month card fee, plus a few airport lounge passes, and free travel insurance, (for up to 180 days, there is some small print on this and I can’t speak to this insurer till next week). The Mastercard has 120 free days insurance. And a ‘priority pass’ lounge membership but I think I still have to pay $35usd to use the lounge.(not interested in that).

Also, a lot of people suggested wise, (i already applied for a card). But i am not sure how best to use this to its full potential. I might be going to other countries, yet tbc.

TIA for any feedback & advice

Amex or Mastercard.

I am considering getting a credit card to put my overseas travel on. They both offer free travel insurance and air points ( from New Zealand).

The Amex has better rewards, but I am unsure if it would be as useful to me as the Mastercard. ( I seem to recall that Amex charges the retailer more, so some won’t accept Amex).

Alsobthe mastercard has free overseas ATM withdrawals ( but high cash advance fees). Has anyone been able to havk the system, overpay their balance so its in credit, and get free cash withdrawal overseas?

Does anyone have feedback?
