What is the best payment method for Using Shopee in Thailand for American expats?

American Android User using Shopee - Which payment method works best?
Hi all, so I'm looking for guidance on how to get Shopee working as smoothly as possible as an American in Thailand on the DTV.

As an Android user, I was able to download the APK from APKmirror, and the app itself works perfectly. However, the trouble comes when you try and pay.

There is a "cash on delivery" default, but I would prefer electronic payment if possible. When trying to set up a credit card, I am prompted to download additional components from the Play Store, which I can't since I could only get the app from APKmirror. I see there is also an option for PromptPay, which I believe can actually be set up for DTV holders with Wise, but I haven't gotten around to setting that up yet.

I would appreciate any advice here on how DTV holders smoothly use Shopee and what electronic payment method works most seamlessly. If the answer is that Lazada works better since it can be directly downloaded from the US Play Store, then sure. But when I downloaded Lazada and tried to login with Google, it basically said my account is locked and to contact customer service, so haven't tried moving forward with Lazada yet.

(any help on Shopee for iPhone users is appreciated too, since my wife is an iPhone user and will be wanting to use Shopee smoothly as well!)

Lots of things wrong here. There's no problem with installing shopee through the Google Play store. If you're getting some kind of warning that the country registered to your account is not compatible, then all you have to do is sign up for a new Google account while in Thailand and install the app from the Google Play store with the new account.

There is no problem using foreign credit cards to make purchases. I have been able to use three different cards on shopee.

Lazada phone service has an English option. I ran into the same problem.

I prefer cod, because I thought it took longer for the orders to arrive if I paid when I ordered

Shoppe accepts my CapOne card, but what's annoying is it wants to send me a verification OTP via text to my CapOne registered number. I use TossibleDigits for my US number, so I can get the text and enter it- but it's just a bunch of extra steps that are annoying. I usually just select QR option because I have a Thai bank too. But if I didnt, I would use True Money and upgrade to level 2 so that I could scan QRs anywhere.

Unlike lazada, shoppee didn’t accept my foreign card either. O tried the kasikorn travel pay card which is otherwise pretty useless but shoppee was fine with it. I tried wise first. This works in lazada but not shoppee. I also don’t want cash on delivery because the juristic office doesn’t have cash to receive it for me. Edit: i set up my lazada with ithai phone numbe, maybe this makes a difference about the blocked account. Hope it will work somehow for you
