TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among community members is that obtaining a credit card or loan in Thailand while on a DTV (tourist) visa is extremely unlikely. Most banks require a work permit and a stable income, which tourists typically do not have. Some suggest that certain banks, like Krungsri, may offer secured credit cards if you deposit a significant amount as collateral, but such options are generally not available to tourists. Generally, expat credit card applications are prone to rejection, and itโ€™s recommended to speak directly with the bank for specific guidance.

DTV is a tourist visa - no bank is going to give a credit card to a tourist!

NOpe you can't

Yes, you can. You must first open an account with Krungsri Bank. Then you may apply for a credit card. However, you must place a collateral credit limit on your deposit, which is locked (you cannot withdraw). Normally, the bank will provide an 85% credit limit against your deposit.

For example, if you deposit THB 100,000 into your savings account (which is locked by the bank), your credit card will have a credit limit of THB 85,000.

This facility is not available at other Thai banks.

well, if you have multiple apartments and money deposited in thailand that could be possible, especially if there's a thai co-signing with you. In all the other cases it's a no no

Would your home country give someone on a tourist visa a credit card? There is your answer.

Forget about both of those. Most expats can't get a loan. It's possible with a Thai company, but not easy. Only a few can get a credit card, and only with a work permit and decent salary.

Even on a WP with a good salary they are reluctant to give out Credit Cards - I mean salaries with 250k++ THB per month going into account they can hum and ahh over a CC. The might give you a card with a limt of what you will put in an escrow but it is same as Debit Card really what you get anyway.

You're having a laugh aren't you? You might have a small chance of getting a credit card if you deposit an amount matching the limit on the card in an account you can't touch
