How can I obtain a Thai Tax Identification Number (TIN) as a foreigner with a DTV for banking compliance?

Do Thai banks allow you open an account if you're a Thai tax residents?

I attempted to, but due to my circumstances and my home countries tax agreement with Thailand I don't need to. Best to go have a chat at the revenue office as everyone's situation is a little different.

BUT! Your foreign bank likely won’t accept just a tin for this purpose. You typically need to get a tax residency certificate, which you can only get after you have submitted your first Thai tax return. So if this is your first year, you won’t be able to fix this until next year. This was at least the case for me to get the better dividend tax with IBKR (and full Thai tax residency acceptance)

1. Walk into your local RD office.

2. Explain you are spending more than 180 days here, and that you are remitting money into Thailand that are tax assessable (do some research on that subject)

Or pay someone like expat tax to do it for your.

Go to your local tax office with your passport and DTV and proof of address. We got one issued within five minutes. Easy.
