Can I apply for a DTV visa in Thailand while on a tourist visa and what are the requirements for the bank statement?

I'm a freelancer working for UK clients. If I come to Thailand on a tourist visa, can I then apply for a DTV visa a little later... or will I run into trouble if weekly income has been coming into my bank while I've been on a tourist visa in Thailand?

And... How long do you think I will need to have the 500,000 baht in my bank account for? Can I pay it in the day before making my application? Or do I need three months of bank statements showing it already in the account and there the whole time?

(Finally, I'm from one European country and currently resident in another... Do I need to apply for the DTV from the city where I'm currently resident, or could I apply from a country near Thailand after I've come to Thailand?)

Thank you for your help with these questions.

TLDR : Answer Summary
A freelancer on a tourist visa in Thailand can work remotely for foreign clients without trouble. However, applying for a DTV visa from within Thailand is not allowed; one must apply from an embassy outside Thailand. The requirements regarding the 500,000 baht in the bank may vary by embassy; it’s essential to confirm this with the specific embassy. It is generally advisable to have the funds in the account for a period before applying, as some may require proof of a stable balance over time.

1.You can work while on vacation in thailand as long as the work is remote and outside of thailand.

2. The 500k thb duration requireme in the account depend on the embassy they all want different durations, you can However just use your western bank account with over 500k thb under current conversion rates. It doesn't need to be in thai baht or a thai account specifically.

3. You can apply from an embassy in any country outside of thailand, I personally used taipei and im american. Some embassies are e-visa applications and may take a weeks or a few weeks and others are still doing walk ins with turn around time of just a few days if your documents are in order.

You cannot apply within Thailand as you need to prove you are in the country of the Embassy you’re applying to. Seasoning requirements are entirely Embassy specific. You need to get your answers from the Embassy you’re applying to.
