Do anyone knows if the London Thai Embassy calls to work place to confirm that the contract allows the person to work from abroad.
Answer summary
The post inquires whether the Thai Embassy in London verifies employment contracts with employers to confirm permission for work from abroad. The comments provide various insights, mainly cautioning against using Bangkok Bank for visa-related funds due to issues with account freezing. Alternatives such as Kasikorn Bank are recommended instead. Additional tips on managing relocation logistics, such as pet importation, and navigating the Thai bureaucracy are shared, emphasizing the usefulness of hiring an agent for a smoother transition.

wow, it seems you have done your homework. You can tick all the boxes. Only one plan is worrying me a lot - you chose Bangkok Bank to be the bank you want to use. They are not very customer friendly anymore. They are making the 2-month bank letter of guarantee for Immigration a difficult goalpost, as they require your deposit must have been sitting in your account for 4 (!) months if you want that 2-months letter from them. It would be impossible to fulfill a requirement. . . . BEWARE! . . . You should open your bank account with either Kasikorn, Khrungsri or SCB bank.

Do they still require a mandatory physical and medical insurance if you apply outside Thailand - Non-OA?

Impressive planning and research. Kudos 👏🏻 There will be inebitable hiccups in your carefully plotted flow chart so don't let that crater your centeredness when they do arise. Even so you should execute this sans major deviations IMHO. and As Many have noted Bangkok Bank is a shlock operation. Suggest avoiding.

Are you using a service to relocate your dog? They will make sure he/she has all the right shots and certifications, pre check all your documents and do all the import paperwork and handle the import. You just drop off one end and pick up the other. They can even deliver to your door in Thailand. It is possible to do yourself but it can be complicated and if there is an issue you are on your own and may be difficult to sort if you cannot speak Thai. The last thing you want is your pet being quarantined or worse refused entry. They will check everything is in perfect order before you depart. We bought 3 cats from Australia and the local partner was fantastic, It was not cheap but worth it for peace of mind.

So how any people to read all that you wrote and do what exactly? This is why many people pay for agencies.

You are over thinking it! All you need is a decent agent, who will take care of all the NECESSARY details for you. Just get the dog’s papers in order, and employ an agent to clear her through animal import!

1. If you stated which country you are from, I missed it. But some of our home country banks require multi-factor authentication via a national telecom provider from home country. If this is a possibility acquire a national number from your home country that you can keep abroad or "port" to another provider like Sonetel.

2. Wise is announcing expat-significant changes this year. Follow up on that and look for alternatives if necessary. I use a Federal Credit union instead of a bank. Research them too if needed.

3. Fwiw, I have used Bangkok Bank for 12 years with zero issues. I keep my foreign transferred nest egg, emergency fund, and immigration funds there. No debit card, no app, just bank book. I also keep a separate currency account with USDs. For my daily spend, I use Kasikorn and SCB.

4. I brought large funds to Thailand years ago, and since then only bring non-taxable, non-assessible funds to Thailand. When I visited the revenue office they did not even issue me a Tax number. So, keep that in your calculus.

Good luck and thanks for asking the best crafted request :-)

Yeah, you will need an agent to clear the dog. All docs are in Thai, and the state vet is difficult to arrange. There are many state offices to visit and fees to be paid. Went through it with my two, nigh impossible without the agents connections!

Don’t forget it’s a different Driving license for Car and Moto.

If you take the Car test you can’t ride a Moto and if you take the Moto test you can’t drive a car.

Unless you take both.

The Thai driving license is a very strong tool to have as it acts as ID. 👍

A well thought out and comprehensive plan. That being said, stay flexible, as you may find the Thai bureaucracy might very well introduce obstacles along the way. Don't expect things to work they way "they should" or the way you plan. Go with the flow and stay upbeat and flexible.

Great post, before you book your flight find out what days the airline take dogs, they dont fly them every day. We brought our dog and flew direct with Thai Airways. Didn't want to risk her getting lost on change over. You dont need to register a vet, just find one when you arrive. We used an agent for the dog, they booked the flight, supplied the crate, they have agents at BKK airport that they deal direct with. It takes about 3 months to get the dog all the checks and paperwork. We used a minibus for the drive from BKK to our destination took 2 days but stopped every hour for the dog. Some companies want the dog in a crate in the van, our didn't, something to consider. When you collect your dog its not from the airport its on an industrial estate just outside the airport. Good luck.

I would re-think Bangkok Bank. I have seen reports of them freezing accounts after issuing the letter for retirement extensions but as I'm not with them I can't verify this personally. I'm with Kasikorn Bank and have had this happen with them or seen reports of them doing that. As with everything you see on the internet do your own checking on this.

Michael in theory 90% of what you’re saying is what should happen.

I suggest using a good agent to be honest.

Many will disagree but for me I’m not keen on stress and red tape/ Thais interpretation of what you wrote means to them.

I would use Kbank and set up term deposit if you want to keep money separate open current account for day to day. - app and using this bank for 12 years no issues at all.

Opening an account is not as easy as you think- in theory it is in practice not so much.

Visa and drivers licence used agent - you will still have an online section and test ( colour and reaction relativity test) on the day at the driving licence registration.

Yellow book 📒 interesting topic. 2 visits to land office

1st given a blue book to property I wanted yellow book for

2nd visit to get yellow book 📒 (coming) but not for the property I wanted it for it’s for another one! ☝️ then 2 more appointments to go to. This process started in mid March 2026! 2 Thai nationals need to have known you for ‘a while’ and they provide their ID 🪪 and sign to say they have known you ( in my case 2 years was needed).

Don’t rush a years contract unless 100% that’s where you want to be- the air quality can be very poor up there and will play on any respiratory conditions or underlying health conditions.

Good luck 😉

Bring plenty of patience you’ll need it; but once done it will all be worth it!!

(1) a typical minivan rental from BKK with driver is around THB 2,000/day plus petrol and driver's hotel accommodation. Your 10,000 seems expensive.

(2) Try to time your BKK arrival either very early in the morning or after sun down. It takes more than an hour for them to bring the dog up from the hold upon arrival. The weather is super hot and humid in the day. There's been horror stories of them leaving the cage outside in the heat and dog died of heat and dehydration. I flew my dog into Suvarnabhumi Airport last August and arrived at 830am. Please put a GPS tracker on your dog, there has been instances of dog escape from cage due to negligence and they couldn't locate the dog for quite a while.

(3) For your transfer of THB 800K into your new bank account, will that hit your new bank account on the same day you open the account? In Udon Thani, immigration officer said it must be the same day else it's invalid. Nowadays based on personal experience, transfer via Wise from Australia and Singapore where it used to be instantaneous, it takes about 2-3 days for transfers to go through now.

(4) It costs THB 450/year for an ATM card, I returned the ATM cards as I never use it and rather not have it for fear of loosing it. Payment everywhere is very convenient with QR code payment at the shops using mobile app. For out of province ATM cash withdrawal, you can easily use your mobile app and do a cardless transaction, if you use an out of province card at the atm when you travel, they will charge you a transaction fee.

(4) TM30 is something the hotel or your landlord needs to do. You just need to notify your landlord to file it for you. Just need to ensure it's in order before you need any immigration services.

All the best with you and your dog's travel into Thailand.

I wouldn’t personally use Bangkok Bank for visa deposit well documented issues with them over last 12 months. K bank or Krung would be better options

Your only problem is using Bangkok Bank you visa the money needs to be in there for 4 months for them to give you a letter for immigration, people have been leaving this bank because of this and they have been freezing thousands of accounts without any notification, just use Kasikornbank they don't expect the monet to be in their bank for 4 months like Bangkok bank.
