Hi. I've done the spy glass thing and didn't find anything recent.

Has anyone done the Surathani/ Padang besar and return border run (Bounce) recently?

Do I book tickets to Padang Besar (Thai Side) or Stay on the train to Padang Besar itself?

I'm on Multi Entry visa and need to activate next 90 days.

Any issues at the border (1300thb service charge like at Sado)?

Many thanks for your help

🙌 Hello Community 🙌

I’m looking for some advice please about crossing into Malaysia from Wang Prachan (Satun).

I believe this is a great crossing point, however I’m relying on public transport to & from back to KPG.

What is the best route to take from your experience?

I believe from my research you can do this trip easily in a day?

Love any recommendations around the national park area.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!

I did a « visa run for visa exemption » in 30 minutes at Padang Besar 75 days ago.

Tomorrow I plan to go there again.

Questions:

- does the visa exemption is changing from 45 + 30 to 30 days + 0 renewals with the new regulations? If not, is the status staying similar?

- if I was to request this time for a real tourist visa 60 + 30, is it a longer process which would not allow me to do a visa run on the same day? What would be the process to get this tourist visa at Padang Besar? Do I need to do something in advance?

Is there a better place to do a visa run (exemption or tourist) than pedant Besar from Koh Samui?

Thanks for the help 🙏

Hi Everyone!

I am French currently in Thailand near Hat Yai on a visa exemption. I am intending to leave to Malaysia on the 19th Feb in order to renew my time here.

I was thinking of doing a visa run by going to Padang Besar and coming back right away to get the 45+30 visa exemption pass.

Would it work to just pass the border for a few minutes and come back with a new visa exemption pass?

Another option that I consider is to get a tourist visa or a long-term visa.

What is the longest tourist visa that you can currently get? And what/where/how would I have to do to get it?

Are there long-term visa options?

I will start my online business sooner or later, yet I wasn’t planning to register it in Thailand.

Later on I plan to be employed by a Yoga place: I suppose you first need to get the job paperwork before applying for the work visa?

Thank you for your help!

So, it is established as common advise that crossing into Thailand on land borders from Laos is the safest bet for travelers with a history of frequently visiting (or COVID extensions). But getting to Laos by air from Europe is a bit cumbersome.

Thus, I am wondering what the latest reports on the southern land borders with Malaysia are - particularly Padang Besar. Flying into Kuala Lumpur and then taking the modern, electrified train to that border crossing sounds tempting.

Then again, there are some (albeit a bit dated) reports of people suggesting that border crossing is particularly rude on the Thai side.

It is also a bit confusing crossing there, as there are two ways to cross: 1) from the Malaysian train into a Thai train (that only runs two times a day) - in which case stamping out and stamping in happens both and conveniently so in the train station on the Malaysian side in between separate tracks. Or 2) from the Malaysian train onwards over land (in which case the convenient immigrations booths inside the train station cannot be used, but the actual land border booths have to be used - and while there is a pedestrian crossing from the train station over the tracks to the actual land borders, it has been shut down by the government, forcing people to take a local taxi, instead of just walking across).

Who can share some recent experiences of this border crossing?

Also, could anybody advise on how to get from that border directly to Hat Yai Airport instead of Hat Yai downtown?

Cheers.

Did someone do a recent border run at Padang Besar? Have there been any requirements like a onward ticket, hotel booking or obligation to stay a day in Malaysia before re-entering?

And would they work on Dec 24 or is it better to leave then at 23?
