I just flew to Singapore and came back the same day just to get it over with. It was fine no issues. But do think different immigration officers can be more strict or lenient.

If you have a multiple entry visa you can come back in theory the same day but my experience is that they didn’t like that. I stayed a night in Penang and the return process wasn’t as smooth as I expected to put it that way.
