Hi everyone . I have a valid DTV visa and will be leaving Thailand and re-entering by land soon.
Last time I re-entered by plane, immigration didn’t ask for anything other than my DTV visa. It was quick and smooth.
This time, since I’ll be entering via a land border (VIA Padang Besar, Malaysia) I just wanted to ask:
Has anyone ever been asked to show proof of funds when re-entering with a valid DTV visa?
And if so, would a brokerage investment account be accepted, or does it need to be a traditional bank account, like what was required for the initial application?
Thanks for any firsthand experience or advice!
TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their experience with re-entering Thailand via the Padang Besar land border with a DTV visa and inquired about the necessity of showing proof of funds. Responses indicated that while it is generally not required to prove funds upon entry with a valid visa, some borders might have their own specific requirements. Users mentioned that it is uncommon to be asked for proof of funds, although there is a possibility of being asked to show cash equivalent to 20,000 baht. One user also shared a cautionary tale about having trouble at the Padang Besar crossing, advising against using that border due to potential issues.
