What to do if my tourist visa application is denied due to accommodation proof?
Hiya!
I'm just trying to apply for the 2 month tourist visa and they've returned my application saying I need proof of accommodation for the entire stay.... I sent proof for the first 3 days but no way I'm gonna book the whole 2 months?? I'm just trying to backpack and obviously want some wiggle room in my plans. Anyone else dealing with this? Should I contact immigration? This is the 3rd time they sent my application back, having honestly required a lot of documentation. Super annoying because staying 2 months wasn't a problem at all just last month

Easiest solution is book something refundable
For those curious, this is from the Malaysian embassy, sounds like luck of the draw what requirements they'll give you.

DazzlingPhoenix9997 should be okay. If not book reserve a booking on trip.com (or similar) and cancel when the visa is approved.

DazzlingPhoenix9997 yes. Im staying with my girlfriend for my whole 52 days. They just ask for a invitation letter from your Thai friends/family.

Clint Barnes invitation letter including copy of thai friends id card. Just did this last week in Aussie and all ok

Mark Broere ok, i didnt see a request for the id card. So i only submitted the invitation letter. Hopefully this will be enough. If not i will include my gf’s id card.

They don’t want backpackers in their country sleeping on their beaches and on their streets. This is why they are cracking down. Didn’t help that a group from India did that this year.

Next I bet they will want proof of payment for accommodation for entire stay! Why else did they return your app? I heard they are asking some people for evidence of funds ‘seasoned’ in an account for 3 months - like for retirement visa. It’s all getting very silly.

IsaanThai5754 it's truly worrying that a person with no money plans to travel abroad, don't you think? We're talking about USD 600... not even 6,000 or 60,000 🤦🏻 No country would want to receive that person, it's a liability. They won't have money for medical insurance either.

Elías Molina sometimes you have the money but can't prove it. I have an account I use on a daily basis and have an overdraft, sometimes it's positive 10k other times it's 10k in the negative depends when the screen shot is taken. I have all my money in a investment account

hmmm. Never in the past have i ever submitted accommodation booking for the whole period of my stay. Always done a few days.

Agoda has options to book your room now and pay later with free cancelation up to about 48 hours before you are supposed to arrive. Do that then send the confirmation email to the embassy and cancel after you're approved.

Yeah just go on booking.com - find hotel with free cancellation - book for 2 months - send the confirmation off then cancel the booking

Just do what everyone else is doing, book a fully cancelable hotel using agoda 🤷🏻♂️

Тодор Атанасов I’m not mistaking anything. My country was long long time without exemption and we needed visa for every entry. I did 60-70 visa applications and each time I provided just hotel booking for first 3-4 nights in Bangkok ( arrival city) and it was enough.

I don't remember that being the case. At least for the past 6 years. Don't mistake the current situation and how much immigration agents check on the airport once you land, with the current rules and laws. The same goes for the 20k baht cash. For a couple of years, they didn't actually requested this so often and suddenly when they started, people were like "that was never required" while it was in the rules for all those years.
