I have just got a retirement visa until December 2026. I am just wondering how that affects my travel insurance, I currently have a yearly worldwide travel insurance bought travelling from uk . I just wondered if anyone had any issues continuing to use this type of insurance after getting a retirement visa. I suppose the insurance could say I am not travelling if I have visa, or do you think they known the complexities of travel in Thailand. I don’t stay any more than 6 months and I do go to other countries . I am going to get a psa test , not through insurance but the hospital needs to see my passport so it made me think if I ever had a medical emergency then would the hospital declare to the insurance company I am a retirement visa holder.

I know I will obviously have to check with insurers but just wondered if anyone had come across this , or am I overthinking it?

The other question is do Thai government inform your own country that you have been granted a retirement visa ? I’m just thinking the tax implications etc.

I know it’s probably questions I should have asked before getting visa lol before all the smart Alex and Annie’s start to roast me .

Thanks in advance for replies

I opened a bank account with Bangkok Bank using an agent just over 12 months ago whilst on holiday … Ive deposited money into my account just recently from my home country ( England) . I’ve checked my app and the money has gone in .

So the question is

Will a bank account except money if it is locked?

Or if it is excepting money it mustn’t be locked ?

I return to Thailand in October .. when I try to use my account whist being in Thailand , will it automatically lock ? Or I’m I going to be lucky ?

A little off topic, I have a DTV and opened a bank account with Bangkok Bank back in September of 2024.

Like a lot of people yesterday my account was frozen/suspended.

Has anyone successfully unfrozen their account whilst on a DTV and if so what documents did you have to show.

Thank you in advance for your replies.

Hi all.

I have a staff member who's on a Non-B extension (thru to Dec 25) + WP + multiple re-entry permit. She has resigned and needs to leave Thailand unexpectedly and soon.

While we can probably get her WP cancelled, there is insufficient time to formerly cancel her visa before she leaves.

What are the implications if she leaves without us having cancelled her Non-Imm B extension?

Hello - I am needing to renew my passport here in Bangkok. I am reading mixed things online - if I make an in person appointment for the US embassy, how fast is the turnaround to receive the passport? What is the fastest way to do this here? Thanks in advance for any info based on actual experience.

Current advice for first time uk visitor visas is to apply to visit for no more than 4-6 weeks. But I read that visas are always issued for 6 months. Does that mean if the visitor wants to stay a little longer than originally stated, there are no issues or repercussions?

Good morning, I'm thinking of joining my estate committee but no one seems able to tell me if this could have any legal, financial or visa implications, so wondered if any one has any information or experience?

The estate doesn't have any 3rd party insurance so I'm wondering who would bear responsibility in case of an accident or potential claim.

Thanks for any advice
