TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the uncertainty of Thai visa policies after the initial 5-year period. Various commenters express skepticism about predicting future immigration rules, noting that speculation is prevalent but ultimately groundless. Some suggest that while it is unlikely the visa will be completely scrapped, revisions are probable. Others emphasize that changes in government and public sentiment may influence immigration policies, with a note that visa fees could increase.

They will probably increase the price because right now it’s incredibly low

No one can predict what Thai immigration rules will be even one year in the future, so speculating about 5 years in the future is foolish.

They change rules and routines as often as you change underwear.

No one knows! We don’t know what type of government will be in place in a few years, nor what could happen with the current one. All speculations until then... Current resentment among Thais isn’t very favorable toward more flexible conditions for tourists and foreigners.

Scrap unlikely, revise quite likely. But nobody has a crystal ball

Personally not a problem for me. I used DTV to bridge until retirement visa.

Retirement visa age will be increased to 55 soon so you'll need another one.

I think that there's way too much speculation going on already. Most of it absolutely groundless....

if available I think they could give another one for remote workers, provided the person is still a remote worker. For soft power I don't think so.

Although I understand your curiosity, it makes no sense to think that from now, as nobody knows and nobody can control it.
