Will my Bangkok Bank account remain accessible and accept deposits while it is locked?

I opened a bank account with Bangkok Bank using an agent just over 12 months ago whilst on holiday … Ive deposited money into my account just recently from my home country ( England) . I’ve checked my app and the money has gone in .

So the question is

Will a bank account except money if it is locked?

Or if it is excepting money it mustn’t be locked ?

I return to Thailand in October .. when I try to use my account whist being in Thailand , will it automatically lock ? Or I’m I going to be lucky ?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user has a Bangkok Bank account opened while on holiday, and after depositing money from England, they are concerned about whether the account will accept deposits if it is locked. Comments suggest that many foreign accounts may be locked, but users advise checking account usability ahead of returning to Thailand, and to visit the bank branch for resolution. Some users confirmed they could deposit despite locks, suggesting that deposits may still be accepted even if access is restricted, although overall functionality may be limited.

From ppl I have talked to, they are able to send money to deposit. They received notification of deposit through their Wise app.

My account has been locked for 2 weeks. I was able to make a deposit into my account but not able to pay any bills or use the qr code to pay. I was told upon my return (November) to bring in the requested documents to get my account unlocked. Hope this info helped

Just try to use the account, they are simply trying to clear out the many, dormant accounts opened on a tourist visa that are not used anymore.

they do not know what they are doing. they did not even know they had locked my account I'm talking about customer service representatives on the phone. It is pure chaos at that bank now if you are a foreigner

Try and use it now instead of waiting until you come back and you will know.

So try paying something. I would use a VPN set for Thailand, go into your Bangkok Bank ap and try topping up your phone or something. See what happens. Maybe?

in my case, in june. I could still access to my account, But no pay out at all. No transfer no QR code no withdraw. Simple, it is my money but I cant use it at all. So it is not my money.

I don't know if you can transfer money in.

I don't trust them to not do this again so I'm closing the account

Most of BB accounts from foreigners are locked. Once you come back here, visit the branch and sort it out. Your money is safe (hope nothing happens)

not "most". Mine has never been locked in 20 + years. Bangkok Bank, Pattaya.

I don't think it's "most" at all. The general pattern seems to be

✅ Opened since 2023

✅ Opened on a tourist visa

✅ Opened in Pattaya or Jomtien

✅ Opened with "help" from an agent

✅ Unusual activity on 800k lump sum

✅ Account holder's address is very far from branch where account is held

✅ Unusually high deposits/withdrawals on a regular basis

I'm not saying this is a comprehensive red-flag list, but it appears these are the warnings. I know about a dozen Bangkok Bank account holders, myself included who are totally unaffected. A figure someone quoted (and there's no reliable source, except a local manager) is BB has over 50,000 foreign customers in Thailand, and about 10,000 accounts have been affected

I helped Bangkok Bank figure out that they had locked my account by getting the code they had to issued wise as a reason for refusing my monthly transfer. once I told them that Wise was given a R02 code when my monthly deposit was refused, the Bangkok Bank phone representative told me to come to the original branch with passport, Visa, and bank book.
