Was just wondering could I apply for a DTV if I want to start teaching English online to students outside of Thailand? Am about to begin a TEFL course soon and was also wondering how I could show proof of employment if that’s needed? Will be applying through London Embassy

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about eligibility for a Digital Nomad Visa (DTV) to teach English online to non-Thai students. Comments indicate that teaching English to Thai students would not qualify for a DTV, but it may be acceptable to teach students from other countries while based in Thailand. Evidence of employment for visa application may be needed.
A pal does this to Japanese business people and Vietnamese students. Teaches online from Thailand and no Thai students. The companies he works for are Vietnamese and Japanese. He has been told it is fine for a DTV but he has not yet applied.
You supply the contract you have with the platform and highlight your bank statements with the payments from the platform. If you have your own private students you can also create a basic contract yourself via chatGPT. There are online teachers with DTV, some have posted their approval process in the threads
thank you for the info! Ive realised it’s a necessity to have payslips from the platform to get the DTV. I wanted to travel around a bit before I started work over there so that plan is gone now!
No, you do not need to have payslips. I don't get payslips and got my DTV. Many freelancers do not get payslips. You can show your income via invoices, bank statements or tax return etc. I submitted a letter from one of my employers detailing the payments I received for 6 months and the bank statements to prove it
Ah yes, I get you. I just mean I wanted to travel around Thailand first before I begin online work over there. I would not have any previous income on my bank statements from the platform I wish to begin working for.
