Can I enter Thailand on a Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) and switch to a work visa if I find a teaching job?

Hi everyone! I’m planning to move to Thailand and I’m looking into applying for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV).

I’m wondering if anyone knows whether I can enter Thailand on a DTV and then, if I find an English teaching job, switch to the appropriate visa/work permit to legally work?

I’m a little nervous about the job search because I don’t want to put pressure on myself to find a teaching job within 30 days. 😅 Ideally, I’d like to have the DTV as a backup so I have more time to find the right school/job.

Has anyone done something similar or knows how this works? Would really appreciate any advice! 🙏

Look into teaching online to students outside of Thailand then use that for the DTV depending on your teaching degrees do you think you can live on 40k baht a month??

As above why go through all the hassle of getting a DTV if you want to change to a B and WP. Of course 30 days might not be enough to find a job so get a METV. If you get a job it will be easier to move to a B and WP from that visa than a DTV.

If your goal is actually to teach English and you have a teaching background and experience, it is not impossible to find a job that is willing to hire you and help you with your Visa without you having to spend money on the DTV first. Why not just focus on that?

Why go through all the effort and cost to get the DTV visa if you're intending to cancel it? Assuming you don't have a remote job now, do you plan to spend thousands of dollars on courses just to get the DTV visa for a couple months and then cancel it? Why are you limiting yourself to 30 days if you don't get the DTV? There are other visas for longer stays than 30 days.
