Hello all....

I'll be applying for the DTV from Vietnam next week and have a few questions about the process.

I have worked abroad for a long time and have moved around an awful lot so I haven't been liable to pay tax anywhere. I have read that many folks are being asked to provide tax returns.

Has anyone successfully applied for and been granted the DTV without being asked for evidence of paying tax? I, of course have the funds in the bank and have done so for at least six months.

I am an English tutor that works online and is self-employed.

Would it be better for me to mention up-front on my cover letter that I am unable to provide evidence of tax returns or wait for them to ask?

I'd appreciate any info.

Thank you!

Singaporean On a Non-O Extension (Spouse) Applying for DTV in Jakarta - Approved in 5 days

Paying forward for all the info this group has provided and hoping this helps other Sgers/Non-O visa switchers applying in JKT:

I landed in Jakarta on the 12th, submitted my pre-uploaded application as I waited for my taxi to arrive at CGK, and was approved 17th Jan. In total I uploaded over 150 compressed pages of documentation, and 2 days after I applied, all they asked me for was a high-resolution passport photo.

Applied as a freelance writer and owner of my own registered publishing business in Singapore and submitted my ACRA business registration.

Wrote myself a letter certifying myself as my own employee and giving myself permission to work from Thailand for projects paid from Singapore. Also used an employment contract I usually give my staff writers and gave myself šŸ¤£ a contract signed by me as the business Director. In my contract, I wrote that I was both a freelancer and a business owner, so I allowed myself to be paid by clients into my personal bank account rather than my company/corporate bank account. Included Singapore taxes filed for at least 5 years.

Showed 3 main corporate client retainer contracts for >US$150k each/year covering the period from 2025-2028, and client payment slips for each month and amount.

Included 1 year of bank statements with monthly ending balance of anywhere from SG$10 to SG$850,000. Highlighted all dates and amounts showing when and how much my clients paid me, and these were hyperlinked in the PDF to the relevant client contracts and payment e-slips (I submitted 1 year's worth from the 3 clients).

Screenshot of bank statements on the date of application of >500K THB ending balance, which Iā€™ve had in my personal account for just over 1 month, and also showed the SGD>THB exchange rate then.

Portfolio of the articles I have written and links to them online. I only submitted 5 pages of this as I figured they were more concerned about my financial stability than my work product.

Indonesian visa entry doc as I entered using the autogates had no stamp.

Scans of every page in my passport with stamps as I was on a non-O extension and had those stamps.

Lease agreement for my villa which Iā€™ve lived in since 2017 and have a 10 year lease for.

Thanks to the moderators for this group and everyone for their input, now just need to figure out the easiest embassy to get my spouse switched over from a retirement visa to my DTV!

Hello everyone.

This has probably been asked a few times before, so apologies for any repetition (I did try to have a look through the group)!

My wife and I are going to be applying for the DTV from the UK soon.

We are both Product Managers and have full time jobs/contracts but we are leaving our current roles and are planning to go freelance with nothing lined up just yet.

Just as additional info: My current role (that I am leaving) is a full time contract. I work remotely but my contract does have my 'official' base as London. I am allowed to work remotely abroad for a certain amount of time a year.

For the portfolio - has anyone had experience just using an adapted CV? Has this proved an issue at all when applying for the visa?

Additionally - are we better off applying for the Visa as a couple or applying separately? Or does it make no difference?

Thanks!

Hi all,

Regarding the 500K Baht, can it be from multiple bank accounts / institutions ? I don't leave all my cash in 1 account. I can show the consulate bank statements.

Any freelance photographer in this group? Do we show our work portfolio, publication...etc?

If my application get rejected, when can I re-apply and does it affect anything,

Thanks for your help! šŸ™

DTV Visa from the Los Angeles Consulate

I am a freelance photographer with a history of visiting Thailand visa exempt and with single-entry tourist visas.

I applied on August 25th for DTV Workcation as a freelance photographer on the evisa website of the Thai Consulate in Los Angeles. I uploaded the following documents, each on signed in blue ink, as a multiple-page PDF:

1. LLC organization document issued by Secretary of Stateā€™s office.

2. Tax ID number document issued by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.

3. Company annual report for 2023 certified by the state Secretary of Stateā€™s office

4. Portfolio of photographic work in the form of my website

5. Artistic resume listing exhibitions and publications where my work has appeared

6. Letter on company letterhead stating that I am able to take all the time I need to photograph in Thailand.

7. Most recent brokerage statement.

8. Copy of state driverā€™s license.

9. Recent passport photo.

10. Biodata page from passport.

On September 17th, the Thai consulate requested that I upload a company profile.

On September 18th, I uploaded the company profile as instructed.

On September 19th, I was notified of DTV Visa approval.

I've been approached by a business with international clients in Thailand to direct, shoot and create a series of films for their business.

I'm English. I know there are many restrictions in place regarding work and visas but wondered if anyone knew if there any exceptions or work applications that can made to allow this kind of prospective work to happen legally?

Thanks in advance :)

Advise needed please. I work freelance at sea as a delivery skipper and spend my time between deliveries in phuket as I have been doing for a year. Although last night when i wanted to re enter I was denied entry, and accused of working in Thailand, although i donā€™t work here. Does anyone have a similar situation to me and how do you manage spending your off time here? They said that I have had too many 30day stamps on arrival and next time I will need to apply for a 90 day tourist visa. Having to apply for a 90 day tourist visa every time before I come here can prove to be a hassle as I often dont fly here from capital cities where there is a thai embassy. Please help
