Applied Feb 18th. Requested additional documents March 3rd, Approved March 5th.
I applied online through the evisa site on the 18th through Workcation catagory.
I am self employed but did not have the funds required for the visa application so I had my dad sponsor me with his savings account.
Was initially worried about that being under workcation catagory but after I applied they just needed an employement verification letter signed (by myself) and they approved it.
I submitted:
Letter of Intent, Employment Contract, Proof of Work (Link to my site and invoices), Sponsorship Letter, Bank Statements (I used 6 months), Copy of My Dads Passport for ID verification, and Employment Verification Letter. I had already purhcased my flight and made a hotel reservation for my travels (March 31st is my flight out)
I wanted to say thank you to this group as I combed over tons of posts before submitting my application. I have never been anywhere outside of the US and Mexico (right across the border) but this has been a dream for going on 10 years now so I am so hyped to make it happen.
I used ChatGPT throughout my process to help me draft letters and follow the requirements with the DTV. I had ChatGPT make editable templates of all the letters I submitted if that would be helpful I put them here in a shareable folder (just make your own copy of them as needed).
Hi all, I seek advice on where and when to apply for the DTV.
As I am going to be a new self-employed worker and not able to show proof of a long time in this, I will apply on soft power, using Muy Thai. I will most likely go with the 3 or 6-month deal at Tiger Eye in Bangkok.
I am flying into Thailand at the end of February and will from there go to either Laos or Vietnam and apply for the DTV. The main reasons being the winter here in Europe.
Which embassy in Laos or Vietnam is less strict with the length of time the 500.000 THB has been in your bank account? Around the end of March, it will have been 3 months and I do not want to risk them turning me down for that reason.
Does anyone know of an agent or service that can help with the DTV application for self-employment out of Phuket or Koh Samui? I’m feeling a bit nervous about handling it on my own. I just arrived in Thailand and want to make sure I follow the best process. My company is based in the US, but I didn’t have time to apply before leaving, so I’d like to take care of it while I’m here. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!
I have bank statements, client contracts, paid invoices, etc.
Do i need to submit my business registration and/or tax ID?
And is there any other documentation that can give me an advantage for quick approval?
If both are needed, i can submit, but i need to make sure I have every single doc to make this smooth as possible as most of my life is currently in Thailand since I've been living here a few months hahah
*Applying for DTV in Ho Chi Minh two weeks from today*
I’m self employed and I do business consulting and brand management for different types of businesses, but i have service agreements with each client signed by me under my business name.
What are the best practices for including client contracts?
Also how should i show my personal income? Should it be my LLC paying me as an employee or do bank statements for 6 months suffice?
I have the bank statements but I really don’t want to deal with back and forth of requesting more documents.
I know the self employment can be a little wonky some places
All help appreciated, this is my first visa ever so I’m nervous😅
Very easy and professional process in Taipei, Taiwan. Visited the embassy at 9AM this morning. Got approved at 3:30PM same day. Will pick-up passport at 4PM tomorrow!
I am preparing to apply for a DTV visa for medical purposes. I have a few questions to ask you:
1. Is there anyone who has successfully applied for a DTV visa for medical purposes? Is there anything I need to pay attention to?
2. In the first item of Support Document, Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document, do I only need to submit the first page of my passport? Or all pages of my passport?
3. In the fifth item, Proof of confirmation to attend the activity or letter of appointment from hospital/medical center, do I need other documents in addition to the doctor's certificate from the hospital and the appointment form issued by the doctor?
4. In the option of Employment Details, I chose self-employment with an annual income of less than US$20,000. Is this option okay?
1) soft-power: I have been receiving ongoing medical treatment at a hospital in chiang mai. it doesn't require any serious surgery or anything. but I will be able to provide evidence of future appointments and treatments
2) workcation: I get about $500 p/month in royalties from a bunch of books I wrote during covid. it's self-employed and self-published. So no letter from an employer or anything. but I will be able to show bank statements for the money coming in from amazon. and also a portfolio of all the books I published
does anyone have any opinion on which route would be best?
also, can anyone point me in the direction of the actual official website I am supposed to book an appointment through??
i found the royal thai consulate website for HCMC. but it doesn't have anything about DTV visas on it
