What visa should I apply for while in Vietnam if I want to return to Thailand quickly?

Hey, does anyone know what the better option for me is? I’m traveling to Vietnam and want to apply for the DTV visa from there. I’m self-employed / run a business in Germany, so I think I could qualify for that type of visa.

However, I only have 10 days in Vietnam before I want to return to Thailand. Would it be smarter to go with the Sports Visa since it’s faster? Also, what’s the cheapest option that actually works?

Thanks a lot!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is considering applying for a DTV visa while in Vietnam but is unsure due to their short stay of 10 days. They are contemplating the faster option of a Sports Visa instead. Community members suggest that the DTV visa is a solid choice if they have all the necessary documentation to prove self-employment in Germany. However, there are concerns about the time needed for visa processing in Vietnam, with 10 days potentially being tight. It is advisable to go for the DTV route for less hassle at immigration, especially for long-term plans, whereas the Sports Visa's processing time is not guaranteed to be quicker. The discussion also highlights that the application depends heavily on individual circumstances and embassy workload.

If you are legit having your own company and have everything to prove then that's the best option to go with. So you don't depend on the schools and not be dependent on their possible shortcomings.

10 days in vietnam might be a little tight. It usually takes 10 business days (plus weekends) so you may need more than that in vietnam

If you can decide always go for workation route. Less hustle at the immigration.

correct, and it is just much more credible you can do longer periods of remote working during 5 years than it is credible you really do 5 years cooking school or medical treatment.

So if you plan to use the visa for 5 years, soft power is not the best option.

The soft power visa application isn't faster. The time it takes depends on your individual application details and the embassy staff, not what you base your application on.
Luit *****************
The fees for all types of DTV are the same.

That means DTV for workcation or digital nomad is cheapest because you don't have to pay for your work, only have to prove you can and are allowed to work remote.

For medical treatment you have to pay for the medical treatment for as long as you want to stay on the visa, but I guess nobody is getting medical treatment for fun, for 5 years it will not be cheap.

The soft power options prices depend on how long you want to stay, for a full 5 years it might be quite expensive in the end, so you might just consider other types of visa.

Ok but no Problem if they are new right? Like a new work contract? Do all the documents Need to be translated and Certified?

Documents in English are OK without translation, most embassies also accept documents in their own language.

Easiest is work contract and letter you are allowed to work remote in Thailand.

With your own company you can give yourself such a contract and permission.

As freelancer it migh be more difficult, you have to show what kind of work you do and need customer contracts and payments. They also might ask for tax documents

The soft power visa isn't faster. It all depends on the Embassy workload and the applicant documents.

10 days is not a lot for visa tourism, you can be lucky of course.

What is a Sports Visa?

I think she's referring to the soft power muay thai route, which isn't faster anyways
