I wanted to circle back and share my experience since I leaned on this group so much during my DTV application process. I submitted my application on 8/15/25 through the NYC Consulate (USA) and received approval on 9/13/25.
I applied as self-employed and included all the requested documentation along with a clear cover letter. I wasnβt asked for any additional information, and the process went straight through to approval. Weβll be flying out on 11/22 and are excited to begin our lease in Chiang Mai. If anyone has questions about the process, feel free to ask β happy to share what I can!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user shared their successful experience applying for a DTV visa through the NYC Consulate, detailing their application submission on 8/15/25 and receiving approval on 9/13/25. They applied as self-employed and provided a cover letter along with the required documentation, facing no requests for additional information. The user is set to move to Chiang Mai on 11/22 and offered to answer questions about the process.
Can I ask what kind of information you put in your cover letter?

ORIGINAL POSTER
Sure! I noted that I was the sole owner of my LLC and explained that my business operates remotely and all clients and operations are based entirely within the United States not serving any clients or conducting any business within Thailand. I outlined my role with the company and highlighted that it was all done remotely. I explained my income sources and referenced the bank statements attached to my cover letter and the state llc documents etc.
they didn't ask for anything outside of what I provided on the requested items per the website application. If you are working a job online they will want a signed letter from your supervisor/boss that you can work remotely and recent pay stubs.

Thank You for your helpful report π

PRINT OUT THE EMAIL THAT HAS YOUR DTV VISA.
That's what you should do... print it out.
You may have to show PROOF of your DTV Visa to airline staff on check-in for your flight βοΈ to Thailand...even to the connecting airline staff. Or to the land border crossing entry Thai Immigration Officer.
Upon arrival into Thailand, show the DTV visa to the Thai Immigration Officer and look at the STAMP placed in your passport to be sure you are STAMPED in for 180 days.
