I applied for the Thailand DTV visa under the self-employed/business category in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I submitted all the required documents on Monday, 6th October 2025
Today, the consulate requested my company’s financial statements for FY 2024. I’ve already provided my personal bank statements as well as my company’s account statements from India and Canada, so I’m not sure why they need the previous year’s financials as well.
I was feeling quite confident about my application since I had all the necessary documents prepared, but now I’m a bit anxious about this new request.
After two rejections, I am trying again from Laos. I have my own company and I have a personal holding. I am employed by my personal holding.
Would you recommend applying as a remote worker ('you work remotely for an overseas company'), or applying as self-employed ('you own and operate your own registered business')?
I technically do both.
To fulfill the requirements for the DTV, you will need evidence including:
Company registration documents
Proof of business income (bank statements, tax returns)
Business presentation deck or website
Your current CV or resume
Business license or permits
Regarding the bank statements and tax returns, is there any minimal requirement? Do you have to at least earn a specific amount? And regarding tax returns, you just need to show the files of the last quarter?
I applied for the DTV visa on Tuesday the 19th and received approval today (Friday the 22nd).(The Hague Dutch Embassy)
I submitted all the required documents, but they emailed me twice asking for additional info. In response, I added the KvK registration to the signed remote work letter from my employer. I also provided 6 months of salary statements.
Regarding the 500k THB requirement, I only had that amount in my account since last month, and it was accepted.

DTV approved. Applied June 30, approved July 8. US citizen and applied online via LA consulate while in Colorado. Applied for workcation as self-employed. Another friend said it took him also 8 days. Thought I messed up by putting 5 years on how long my stay would be, didn't seem to matter.
Was asked for additional documents July 7: business registration, letter of employment, portfolio, and tax return. Sent docs and was approved within minutes.
Happy to assist anyone self employed wanting the workcation DTV.
Regarding Guillermos successful and quick visa approval, I also went with self business owner, and I've been tracking in Excel those reporting approvals/denials and what they went with. From my crude data keeping, having your own business takes your chances of a fast approval WAY up above the other options. That's what I went with in Chicago and got a 3 day approval.
Hi, I had a question for those that have submitted as self employed.
Sometimes I see people say they submitted an approval agreement written to themselves, that they're allowed to work remotely and abroad. Is this something that people were asked for? If so, did you just write and sign a letter on company letterhead? I'm self employed and don't have anything like this, but would be curious about the chances of being asked to make such a document. Applying in Jakarta next week.
