I'm currently prepping to apply for the DTV visa - I'm a self employed stock market trader (UK based).

I have two other smalle sole trader businesses as well - unsure of whether to submit information for all 3 or just the trading (main one).

Anyone else applied as a trader? any challenges or issues or advice?

specific advice on what evidence is requested ... such as websites, linked in profiles, trading logs, business cards, etc... appreciated.

Many thanks - Ben

I applied for remote worker with rental income and an online business that received zero income. I had a lot of savings and good monthly income so I think that is what they mainly cared about

I had read about few cases facing difficulties/ rejections while applying as traders while I had also read about one succesful case with declarations from a Chartered Accountant. All I saw, it was kind of complex to explain this line of work. Example certain Embassies were asking for no objection letter from companies or letter of intent provided for remote work etc.

I wanted to avoid this to and fro.

So while I'm a trader myself and I did mention that in my application but chose the soft power route for the application so as to have lesser to and fro & have higher probability of approval and did get approved.

But yes, as Andi has suggested, you could look at UK specific cases and decide.

All the best to you.

The course I signed up for is for 6 months but I anyway explained my passive and trading incomes which I supported with financial documents and statements which were way beyond eligibility.

So technically I'm a remote worker who applied for soft power DTV. Now, while I have been reading and many people have varied opinions and hypothesis, my analysis suggests (based on current rules)- you don't need to renew soft power courses as a mandate unless ofcourse if you wish to continue.

Based on readings from this group, if you go to immigration office to extend after 180 days (instead of leaving Thailand and entering again), they may or may not seek proof of activity etc. I have not faced this scenario myself though.

Tomorrow the rules might change but I don't think we should suffer in anticipation.

Also, look at the cases approved in UK for softpower and the durations signed up for.

Best to keep it simple, i'd just apply via your main one. You can find posts from UK stock investors who obtained their DTV. The evidence you listed plus details of income.
