Hello everyone,

I have a question about the retirement visa.

I have been working in Thailand for a long time and I currently have a Non-B visa. This year, I am planning not to renew my contract and apply for a retirement visa. So my visa will change from Non-B to Non-O (I think).

I spoke with the immigration office and they said it is not very difficult. Also, the visa cancellation and the new visa application can be done on the same day, so I don’t need to leave the country.

However, I feel a bit stressed because many things need to be done on the same day. As I understand, my school must first cancel my work permit at the labour office and then give me a visa cancellation letter. After that, I need to cancel my visa and apply for the retirement visa on the same day.

I am worried about possible delays, especially if the school is late to give me the documents. I am not sure if I can finish everything in one day.

If anyone has had a similar experience, I would really appreciate your advice.

Thank you very much in advance.

Hello. I entered Thailand from the USA 12 years ago on a Non OA visa based on retirement. Five years ago, I changed my yearly extension from retirement to marriage. Now, I would like to change my visa status from a Non OA based on marriage to a Non O based on retirement. Some additional details to consider: 1) Last month, I wire transferred 400K baht to my Thai bank account (SCB) which now has an 800K baht balance. 2) I have a Yellow House Book. 3) My current yearly extension expires in July. 4) No problem travelling, if needed. 5) Still happily married! What are my options? I appreciate all knowledgeable responses. Cheers!

Hello everyone

Did anyone ever do a changing of visa from visa exempt/tourist visa to a 90 days non O visa (married to a thai) inside thailand ?

I went to immigration with all the documents and did the application. Got a note from the immigration officer in my passport that says "in process of changing visa. And the date I was there. That was all.

No information about when to come back to get my stamp.

My visa exempt stamp is finshed in 3 days now. (I had enough days left when I did the application)

And I wonder if anyone have done this process and if I am allowed to stay here and wait for my 90 days non o stamp even though my exemption stamp has expierd?

And how will I know when the visa is finished for me to go back and get the stamp?

Any one knows ?

I sadly cant just go there and ask as I live on an island 2 hour boat from immigration and ive tried calling but no answer.

Any help is so appriciated. 🙏☺️

Hi everyone, I have a question regarding my situation

I’ve been staying in Thailand on a DTV visa while working remotely. My wife also got a DTV visa as my dependent.

Now I’ve received a full-time job offer in Bangkok, and the company will provide me a Non-B visa.

I’d like to ask

1. If I switch to a Non-B visa, can my wife continue staying in Thailand with her current DTV visa, which was applied as a dependent under mine? (Her DTV stamp doesn’t mention “dependent.”)

2. After 6 months, when she needs to do a border bounce to renew her stay, will there be any issue re-entering Thailand since my DTV will no longer exist?

3. Would it be safer to cancel her current DTV visa and apply for a Non-O dependent visa later (even though I’ll still be in my probation period under the new job)?

Thank you very much in advance for your advice and experiences!

Hi guys, hopefully just a quick question. Changing from retirement visa to marriage. Money seasoned etc got all docs. I went to Jomtien Immigration today to ask for requirements info. He also gave me form.for extension of stay to complete. I assume this is to tide me over in the interim period between retirement visa stopping and marriage visa is granted!! Am I correct. Thanks

Has anyone here in Bangkok changed from a retirement visa to a DTV visa? Im a 65 year old retired American. I’ve used the same agent every year to renew my retirement visa and he doesn’t provide DTV services. He downplays the DTV and calls it an inferior visa and would not help me nor refer me to someone else.

If you have changed visas how has it worked out for you and who did you use for the service and what classes did you end up taking? I have no problem leaving the country once a year.

Hello everyone, I hope you’re all well. I would like to ask for your advice and help regarding my visa situation.

I am currently holding a guardian visa issued by Bangkok Immigration (Chaeng Wattana) since my son is studying in Bangkok. My residence address, however, is in Samut Prakan province.

I am planning to change my visa type to a retirement visa.

* Can I process the change of visa in Samut Prakan Immigration, or do I need to go back to Chaeng Wattana?

* Do I have to wait until my current visa expires before applying for the retirement visa, or can I apply for the change at any time?

Any guidance or experience you could share would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.
