My process that I followed
Getting a Laos visa (as a UK passport holder) - USD 40 if you do VOA (visa on arrival)
Evisa option only available now as all bookings this month are full up
- 6 months bank statements showing THB 500k minimum (lucky I have a Thai bank account
but you can do with your home country bank statements showing the equivalent)
- Proof of residency (copy of lease agreement etc)
- photocopy of your passport BIO page
- photocopy of the Laos visa page (did not know this at the time..lucky photocopy place across the road)
- paperwork from the Muay Thai (fitfac) in Bangkok showing DTV approval
- proof of payment for the Muay Thai classes (photocopy needed)
- THB10000 in cash for the non refundable embassy charge.
Had appointment on the Thursday morning and picked up the visa on the Monday (13:30)
Now taking a bus (from app 12GO) from Vientiene to udon Thani (around thb200)
Feel free to ask any questions..but thanks again to the members of this group for their valuable contributions ...good luck to those going through the process
* already had online info entered in, submitted my DTV application
Monday 17 March
* 9:30am reply from Thai office. They want some sort of official entry/exit certification. I research this and read that you're supposed to be a Taiwan resident in order to get it. Panic begins to set it.
* 11:00am I think all hope is lost, but decide to go to the Taiwan Immigration Agency and just see what happens.
* 2pm after a long queue, I successfully obtain the required certification doc. I'm in shock but happy. I upload it and resubmit my DTV application.
* 7:30pm DTV approved. I add this to dependent applications and turn them all in.
Tuesday 18 March
* First thing in the morning: I bring my wife and kids to the Taiwan Immigration Agency and get their certificates.
* Mid-Morning: As expected, Thailand replies wanting these certificates. I upload them immediately and resubmit all dependent applications.
I went yesterday to the Thai consulate in Taipei. Arrived around 9.30am. I had 4 people in front of me applying for the DTV and had to wait a while til my turn. It seemed like they spoke to everyone for 20 - 30 min.
When it was finally my turn, luckily it went quick, she looked through all my papers.
I recommend you have a conversion app open on your phone as she asked me to convert the amounts on my bank statements into THB and write it down.
This is exactly what I provided:
1. Passport
2. Visa application form from their website
3. Recent color photo with white background 3,5 x 4,5cm
4. Financial evidence of more than 500k THB on personal bank account (your name must be visible)
5. Letter of Employment (written by myself in my company name and signed by me)
6. Documents of my LLC formation in the US - she checked if my name is on it.
7. Letter from the IRS with my EIN - again she looked for my name on it
8. Freelance work contract with my main client, stating I can work remotely and my client lives outside of Thailand
9. Recent invoices I have sent to clients from the past few months
10. Transactions of my business bank account from the past few months, matching the recent invoices as incoming payments
11. Print out of my website, showcasing my freelance services.
I'm fully aware that I probably delivered more than asked on the website and I'm so glad I did.
She took all my papers and said come back at 3.30pm. I went back in the afternoon to hear it was approved, paid the 11k TWD in cash, and today I returned to pick up my passport with the DTV. Needless to say, I'm soooo happy!
Thanks to this group for all the advice, it helped me a lot to prepare for this.
I highly recommend to bring more than suggested on the website. I talked with 2 other people and they were also asked to show bank transactions of incoming payments and invoices or paystubs. Definitely bring some along if you apply in the workation category.
If you want to apply in person in Taipei, hurry up as they switch mid November to evisa.
I got approved for DTV from Tel Aviv, now we’re back in thailand and want to submit for my spouse. If we go to Laos, Vientiane, i see they require an interview, is this also for the spouse and children followers ?
