Thanks to everyone who has shared information in this group—it helped me resolve many issues during my application process. I also appreciate those who responded to my previous question here.
I applied for the DTV from Taipei, Taiwan. My first application was rejected due to a name error. On my second attempt, I was asked to provide additional documentation regarding my status as a freelancer, including a copy of my contract and proof of income/source of funds. I submitted the documents, and even though it was a Saturday night, I received my visa approval the following day.
After I was granted the DTV, my husband applied for his own DTV as the spouse of a DTV holder. According to the current rules, if your spouse has already obtained the DTV, you can apply for your own DTV based on that relationship. I submitted his application on May 7 around 11 AM, and he received his visa approval later that same day at around 6 PM.
For his application, I only submitted a bank statement under his name and a copy of my approved DTV visa. No other documents were requested. For his occupation, I selected “Retired.”
In my experience, the DTV application process is not particularly difficult or complicated. You just need to provide clear documentation that supports your identity and financial status.
Although many people online mention submitting detailed and extensive documents, I personally did not provide much, and nothing beyond what was specifically requested. I’m not sure if this is because I applied from Taiwan, but that was my experience.
I hope this helps others who are planning to apply for the DTV. Wishing you all a smooth application process.
