Freelancer DTV approved last week in Hanoi. Thanks to everyone in this group for helping out! My turn to give something back

Docs I added to my application (everything in English)

- Financial proof (3 months of 500K+ BHT)

- 2 framework agreements with clients I work with

- passport stamp as proof of arrival and hotel booking

-Screenshots of my LinkedIn profile that I use as website

-Emails with clients sharing results of my work

- Company registration docs --> showing I'm the only owner

Got approved after almost 2 weeks.

Good luck!

I’m from the UK looking to apply for the DTV this year. Can anyone advise how much you need to be earning as a remote worker/freelancer to succeed with the application please? Thanks in advance!

Just got my DTV visa approved! Thank you to everyone who posted in this group. It’s been immensely helpful reading through everyone’s experiences so I’d also like to share mine.

I am a USA citizen. I applied in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam for the freelancer DTV option. Here’s the timeline:

- I filled out all the paperwork prior to arriving to Ho Chi Minh except the proof of location (just as preparation — didn’t submit)

- I arrived on Sun Feb 23 and submitted it in the application in the evening with the proof of location

- They asked for additional information on Wed Feb 26 at 10am. I submitted the additional information in the evening

- I got approved on Mon Mar 3 at noon :))

Below are specifics. [Added] means I added it when they asked for additional information.

Portfolio:

- [Added] I wrote an intro letter that explains my background and what each page in the portfolio contains

- [Added] Resume

- [Added] University Degree Certificate

- Business Info Sheet

- [Added] Reviews screenshot and link to profile (I had text message screenshots before but replaced that with website reviews)

- Example work screenshots

- Signed agreements (2 examples) [Added 1 more]

- Bank statements & venmo transactions to prove income from business

Proof of Location:

- Flight to Vietnam

- Vietnam Visa

- Airbnb receipt with prices and dates

- Passport stamp of entry

Financial Proof:

- [Added] I wrote a letter explaining the situation. I put most of my money in a CD savings account. The CD ended on January 11. They wanted 6 months proof of 500,000 baht, but I could only show that through the CD. I was worried they wouldn’t approve me because CD can be considered investment account, and they only want checkings or savings.

- 6 months of CD statements

- [Added 5 months] 6 months of Savings account statements (where the CD money is now)

- [Added] 6 months of credit card statements — they did not ask for this, but I heard they want to see that you spend money so I included this in case it helps

I’m glad I wrote a letter to explain both the portfolio (because I do not have a registered company) and the financial proof (because of the complications). I think adding a human voice to the application helps the reader understand what everything is so they can assess appropriately. Not necessary, but I’m glad I did it anyways!

Thank you for everyone who participated in this group. I wish you all the best of luck!

When submitting applications for DTV soft power in HCMC, has the embassy ever requested applicants to provide payslips and bank statements?

Hello super group, i submitted my visa application last tuesday in Hanoi under the category of freelancer and it has been since on “Pending approval”…since i didn’t know wether they would give it to me or not, i decided to stay 3 months in VN before re-entering Thailand, so i asked the DTV to start in may, in more than 2 months…would it be the reason nothing seems to move ? Anyone has been in my situation ? You need to ask for the visa at maximum 3 months before you start to use it so i thought i was in my right to do so…thanks for your thoughts on that !

hi, guys. Thank you for the all precious info here!!

But I got an issue. I submitted all the documents I had prepared about 2 weeks ago, but today I got an email for additional documents request. But here I have 2 questions I need you guys' help for.

1. I am not a business owner but they requested "Certificate of Business Registration". I am a free lancer English teacher so I already submitted employment certificates of the companies I am working with and my resume but they are asking this now.

2. I already submitted my resume and the hotel reservation documents but they requested my resume again and"Lease /Rental Agreement with the detailed contents".

for these what should I do?

Hey everyone! 🌏✈️

I’m planning to apply for the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) and I wanted to get some advice. I’m a freelancer and teach English online to Italian and Spanish students. The company who sends me the money is based in Spain, I'm from UK. I’ve got one invoice as I've only been working as a freelancer for 1 month but it’s not a huge amount. I’m planning to work more hours when I’m in Thailand, so I’ll be earning more then. I can show proof of over 500,000 THB in my bank account.

Do you think this will be enough to get the DTV, do i have to show the specific number within the payslip or is it just a payslip with my name on. Any tips would be super helpful!

Thanks a bunch!

I didn't overdo the requirements. Just submitted the following:

1. Current bank statement

2. Entry stamp

3. Letter explaining my work (I am an online ESL teacher. [No company])

4. Screenshots of the lessons I conducted with my current students. (My students are not from Thailand.)

5. Screenshot of my LinkedIn profile.

I submitted the application on Feb 4 and received an email at around 22:00 on Feb 17.

I'm planning to apply under the digtial nomad / freelancer category and was going to submit the following documents. I'm a programmer.

Are there any other documents I should include?

Thanks!

- Proof of employment letter (I work for myself and have a company but made one and signed it since I heard that's what people are doing

- Articles of incorporation (shoing I own the company)

- Letter stating I can work from anywhere, including Thailand, and have no business in Thailand

- 3 Months bank statments

- Pics of all passport pages

- Taiwan Immigartion Entry/Exit data form

- CV + Portfolio

Edit:

I was also submitted the following

- cover letter

- 1 client invoice with proof of payment with a bank statement (about 10k USD)

In the interview I was asked why I wanted to go to Thailand, why I didn't just get a multi entry visa, and about what I do for work and who my clients are.

Hi all! I found all the updates extremely helpful, so I thought I'd post my own timeline.

I got approved for my DTV today (17/02). The email came through right at 6 pm local time. I submitted an application for the digital nomad subtype on 03/02 at 22:30 from Siem Reap. The status changed to pending approval the next morning, and it took exactly 10 business days to process from that point.

I submitted a screenshot of my online profile (with an embedded link) on a large, freelance marketplace that shows over 1,600 hours booked, high hourly rate, and several hundred client feedback ratings/comments. I included a short letter of intention and the general freelancer contract provided by the platform I market myself on. It's a general contract that essentially says I'm a freelancer and not an employee.

I provided my January 2025 savings account statement with beginning balance around $8000 USD and ending balance of $16000 USD with several deposits over the month from my personal checking to get the balance to the required 500,000 baht. I also provided a lease for an apartment that I signed when I was there in December. I wasn't asked for any additional documents. I have an American passport.

That's about it. Even though I had no reason to think it would be rejected, I was really nervous the whole time. But from what I can tell, if you are a legit digital nomad, there's no reason to stress☺️
