What’s the fastest way to get a residency certificate in Bangkok? I would really like it by Monday if possible. Im staying at an Airbnb, will that be a problem?

The father is an EU member national, and his daughter holds dual nationality (Thai/EU nationality). If applying for the NON O guardian visa based on a Thai child is not an option, the alternative would be the NON O guardian visa based on a non Thai child, that is, through her ED visa as a student at an international school, with the father attached to her visa as her guardian.

My question is: would the father be eligible to pursue this second option?

For instance, by submitting the child’s EU birth certificate and her EU passport at the local immigration for the extension?

Please note, I am not seeking advice on the first option (guardian of a Thai child), so I kindly ask that responses focus solely on the alternative route.

Additional context:

• The child is 10 years old

• She was born in Thailand

• She holds both Thai and EU passports

I do bear in mind that, different immigration offices exercise discretion differently.

Thank you in advance for your input and for sharing any similar experiences.

Hi all. My yearly lease at my apartment in Bangkok will expire next month, but my Retirement Visa (Non-O) will not need to be extended until the end of September. My hope would be to NOT sign another one-year lease, but to spend the coming year exploring around Thailand and other countries. I have been told that I must have another "long term lease" when I apply for an extension at Chaeng Wattana. But how long is that - another year? Again, I'd really prefer to just do month-to-month rentals in different cities for the next year. Thanks!

Chaengwattana extension - staying with Thai Wife

If anyone is interested, here is a copy of the documents required list from Chaengwattana for extension on reason of Thai wife, received May 2025. Document is dated October 2023.

PS: Last year information counter told me to get the form from section L. Yesterday section L told me to get the form from Information counter (which is much better as it's much faster).

Transfer stamps to new passport

For those that are interested in the process, hope this is useful.

I received my new Australian passport at the embassy and current passport was marked as cancelled. I held Non-O Visa (Thai wife), now on first yearly extension of stay, and have multi re-entry permit. Extension & re-entry both from Chaengwattana.

Arrived CW 2pm Wednesday 28 May, was given ticket for counter L with 35 people in front of me. My ticket was called at 3:50pm.

Gave counter L my new & old passports, completed transfer form, with copies of requested documents on the form ([members only]).

Took 15 minutes to process, and then I was sent to the re-entry section. It was after 3:30 so I couldn't get a ticket number for re-entry counter, so just asked the staff in the re-entry section (hoping they wouldn't tell me to come back next day) and they then copied re-entry stamp into new passport also.

Whole process completed by 4:20pm.

I think it was helpful that the re-entry permit had been issued by CW, as the re-entry staff first saw an expired re-entry permit issued by Suvarnabhumi Airport, and were discussing between themselves about which office had issued the reentry permit.

I've attached copies of what the stamps in new passport look like, as they are like a duplicate of the original stamp, with a 'this is a correct copy' stamp and signed by immigration officer.

Hi, I'm on a Non O, Retirement visa, and have been using monthly income for extensions. I am thinking of changing to 800k in the bank. My extension is due on 26 September. When would I need to have the money in the bank, and would I have to have it shown as being from a foreign source?

As a side question, I have noticed in 2020 the extension was to 24th Sept, and in 2021 and since has been stamped 26 Sept. No big deal, I'm just curious on that point.

Super anxious after applying for DTV in Kuala Lumpur over a week ago. Blowing up money on hotels, trying to do things outside but it just stresses me so much I can't as I have bad feelings. They hit me with requirements which I didn't expect earlier and sadly I didn't read this group before and anyway have tickets to KL for planned short trip so I thought I will apply here.

I have very complicated work situation. Company I worked for is registered in one country (there is not even consulate of this country to authenticate; they inform on website it must be done in embassy in... Bangkok, as they don't provide such services) and contract with address from another country (as they hire contractors from country with low taxes, most likely), digitally signed by both parties using Docusign.

I uploaded all of it a week ago but not exactly like they want from this very demanding list...

Any success stories from KL, Malaysia to cheer me up?
