After more than two months of being completely screwed around by “that bank” they now tell me they cannot unfreeze my account and need to give me my money back. I have just renewed my 12 month extension of stay (retirement) and have supplied them the relevant documents including a certificate of residency.

My question is how can I go about changing banks without “breaking” my retirement extension. I don’t have enough money just to deposit another 800k in another new bank while waiting to get my money from the original bank.

Moving to Thailand next year, but I cannot decide on where to call home. My elderly father is coming with me, so we want to be near great hospitals. Cannot decide between Changmai (burning season worries me) and the burbs of BKK. Any input?

We are wanting to do the DTV (Destination Thailand Visa) so we can come and go for about 5 years. Should that be applied for prior to coming to Thailand or can it be applied for after arrival on a tourist visa?

Hi everyone,

I’m going to apply for the DTV soon while I’m in Vietnam.

I work as a freelancer in online marketing and have several client contracts, but they’re all in German.

Do you think I should have them officially translated into English and signed again, or would a simple English translation together with invoices be enough as proof?

I’d really appreciate your advice , thanks in advance! 🙏

Hi everyone

first thank you to this amazing group and all the help provided! im posting this as a help to people who are in the same situation as us so please dont come after me with nasty disrespectful comments please!

US citizens applied in Hanoi october 7th

my husband is a remote worker and makes good money! we provide all documents requested ( tax returns, paystub, company registration documents and letter that states he can work remote) except 500k baht! in liue of that we provided his father’s bank account along with a letter explaining he will be our emergency sponsor!

we applied in Hanoi on October 7th. on october 8th they requested proof of relationship with his dad which we uploaded his birth certificate.

approved october 15th

on October 15th we applied for me and my daughter same documents.

on October 16th they requested 3 months bank statements with 500k baht! i uploaded my father in law’s letter and bank statements. few minutes later the status changed to processing pending approval!

today we both got approved.

before we applied i emailed the embassy and explained the situation they responded you can provide sponsorship only from your immediat family. so I was sure there wont be an issue. anyway. good luck to everyone and thank you again for being so helpful

After asking some questions during the past months, I think it's fair I share my experience this year. With a EU passport I arrived Thailand in May and left after 58 days for 3 weeks. In my August re entry, I received 2 more months. On October I went to the IT square immigration office and received a 1 month extension. Overall i managed to stay in Thailand for around 5 months with the visa exemption scheme. I just have good things to say about the overall process, my second entry in August ( where I feared some problems), was the smoothest possible, less than 1 minute taking a picture and figure prints, no questions asked ( a female IO). In IT square, arrived around 12.30, services were stopped for lunch but at 3.15 pm I was out with my extension, once more, no questions asked. I didn't had a past of long stays ( usually 2 months a year 1 plus 1 extension prior to 2024). But I have decided if next year I will stay as many months I will get a proper long time Visa.

Hey all

Has anyone had experience with the Sydney embassy, and whether they want to see the 500.000 baht in your account for three months, or if just having it in there for a undisclosed amount of time is ok?

Because apparently different embassies have different requirements.

Thanks.
