Hi all,

My wife and I are planning to base ourselves in Thailand for the next 2–3 years and (fingers crossed) start our family there. I’m a remote employee for a U.S. company and my wife freelances. A few questions on the DTV process:

1) For the 500,000 THB financial requirement, will bank statements from investment/brokerage accounts be accepted, or do they need to be from a cash/checking/savings account? We have sufficient funds, but one account dipped below 500k recently due to an investment.

2) I’ve seen people mention an employer letter confirming permission to work remotely from Thailand. Is this actually required, and what wording do they expect?

3) I’ve also read that some consulates ask for recent payslips. My wife’s income varies as a freelancer. Because of Trump's shenanigans, lots of business (her clients) put a pause the last six months so he income has been very low to 0. Things are finally kicking in back into gear and she is signing up a few clients, but they won't likely start right before we apply for the DTV visa. Would this be a problem for her application even though we cover the minimum $ requirement? Would you recommend to have her as a dependent, rather than apply for her separate visa?

4) If we apply for her as a dependent, does that mean I have to first get my DTV visa approved and then apply for her as a dependent? Is there a way to do it simulatenously?

If you ever have the situation that you enter formalities with banks immigration etc and during their deliberations you get a new passport, do keep photocopies of the original or the old one. They dont care if its you and you are the same person and the old passport is no longer valid they want photocopy of the old one.

Luckily I had a copy of the old one.

Also dont.think a stamp stating you have your visa in the passport is proof enough you have a visa they want the original copy of letter you presented at immigration when you arrived so they can really get down to it 😉

I guess its just crossing the Ts and dotting the i to the nenth degree.

I heard it is possible to apply for a dtv visa if we already have a Thai business. A business visa + dtv visa would do the trick as long as we don’t sell in Thailand. Is there someone who knows about it ? Any experience ?

Hello guys!

I need Thai tax ID and I was told there are two types of booklets/cards - a pink one and a blue one.

Could someone please explain what’s the difference and which one I actually need to get for the tax ID? 🙏

Hi all. Sorry if this is a dumb question. Coming on a non-O early next year and will get retirement visa on 800k. I'm thinking of transferring to 65k per month in the second year. So I'm wondering if you can spend the 65k each month, as long as it's coming in regularly, or it has to stay in the bank in totality. Thanks

Hi everyone, I have a question about the DTV visa processing time.

I submitted my DTV visa application through the Thai Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany. They requested additional documents and I uploaded everything the next day on October 15th.

Since then, I have been waiting for over 19 working days without any update or email.

Is anyone here experiencing similar processing times from Frankfurt?

How long did it take for your DTV approval?

Thank you in advance. 🙏

So after getting an account yesterday, the bank teller (new girl) F-ed up. I gave her the residence certificate and said one was for banking and the other was drivers license. After perusing it, she picked the drivers license one to submit. I should have used Google translate to make sure. My wife was occupied, and so things happen. I received a call this morning that I almost didn't pick up. It was the teller and she wanted to talk with my wife. Initially she wanted us to get to khon kaen immediately, not today, my nephew was busy elsewhere. My brother went to the Orbitor and made a few copies of the correct certificate. I signed one and became one of her contacts on Line. I sent a picture of the copy to kind of cover her ass, then went to an overnight service to send her the actual copy for tomorrow. I sent her tracking and she was happy. Hopefully it goes well and I can start putting money into the account. I did a small test this morning with wise, instantly in the account. I played around and if I keep it under 500k, it should be within seconds. If I go for the whole 800k, it will be a week. Fingers crossed 🤞

Anyone have experience transitioning from Business Visa to DTV?

Any complications around it? I know you have to cancel the work permit before applying but just want to make sure I understand any complications.

Thank you!
