I need Thai tax ID and I was told there are two types of booklets/cards - a pink one and a blue one.
Could someone please explain what’s the difference and which one I actually need to get for the tax ID? 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
In Thailand, there are two types of ID cards: a pink foreigner ID card and a blue ID card for Thai nationals. The pink card is for foreigners, but you do not need it to obtain a Thai Tax Identification Number (TIN). To get a TIN, you only need your passport and proof of address, such as a residency certificate, a yellow house book, or a rental agreement. It is also suggested to seek professional advice or assistance to navigate the process, especially if you need help acquiring the TIN.
If you insist on having a Thai TIN there are accountants and other service provides who will get you one for a fee.

@ANONYMOUS MEMBER Why do you think you need a TIN? You had professional advice, no dont think so or they would have arranged this. I really believe you should get professional advice

So there’s a pink foreigner ID card that was initially introduced for refugees from Myanmar but now all foreigners with a yellow house book can get one.
The blue ID card is only for Thai nationals so you won’t have one.
You don’t actually need any of these in order to get a tax ID number but as with most things in Thailand it depends on the office you go to and the person at the counter.

You need neither. To obtain a Thai TIN you need your passport and proof of address. For proof of address a residency certificate, a yellow book or a rental agreement will suffice.
