ORIGINAL POSTER
If you ever have the situation that you enter formalities with banks immigration etc and during their deliberations you get a new passport, do keep photocopies of the original or the old one. They dont care if its you and you are the same person and the old passport is no longer valid they want photocopy of the old one.

Luckily I had a copy of the old one.

Also dont.think a stamp stating you have your visa in the passport is proof enough you have a visa they want the original copy of letter you presented at immigration when you arrived so they can really get down to it ๐Ÿ˜‰

I guess its just crossing the Ts and dotting the i to the nenth degree.

TLDR : Answer Summary
It's crucial to keep photocopies of your old passport when dealing with banks and immigration authorities in Thailand, especially if you receive a new passport during the process. Agencies may require these copies despite the new passport being valid. Moreover, having a visa stamp is not sufficient; you need to provide the original letter presented at immigration upon arrival.
