Hi all,

Looking for guidance and help.

I own a uk business and pay uk taxes, I live in the UK.

I am planning on getting the dtv visa, for my situation as a business owner, and moving to thailand permanently.

I am currently in thailand now and looking for suggestions on how best to obtain the visa without returning to the UK to apply, has anybody had success in a neighbouring country to thailand and how long did it take to be approved from application?

Also, since I would be spending more than 180 days in thailand in a calender year, would I owe taxes in thailand?

To add to this, I was working paye in the uk until July 2024 so no personal tax returns to display, business has corp tax and vat returns, and I have a paye slip until July this year, what would the embassy need on this point?

I did ask uk hmrc this before I left and also the embassy and they said as long as you are paying taxes in the uk still then nothing more to be done.

Hi everyone!

I finished my contract on September 30th but my work visa expires on October 27th. I want to do a border run to Laos before that to re-enter as a tourist.

At work they told me this about cancelling my visa, is it correct?

` You need to go to the immigration for cancel your visa first by bringing passport work permit and paper from us. For example if you will leave country on 21st October, I will issue cancellation paper effective cancel your visa on 21st October and you can go to the immigration from 1st October onwards. Then on 22nd Oct, I will go to cancel work permit for you'

I thought they had to cancel first.

Quick update that the Taipei embassy is open again as of Friday, 10/4. Our paperwork was submitted for review this morning. Fingers crossed!

UPDATE: Visa paid and approved today. Pickup for our passports is on Monday - so it's a two-day process. Feel free to ask questions in the comments.

Good morning everyone. I’m on dtv and luckily have a bank account with Bangkok Bank since 2018. unfortunately my home branch is in a town in isaan and i live in Bangkok now. So i thought i give it a try and just went into a random branch. Of course, they didn’t find DTV on the list but after some calls she said can open just need letter embassy. Does anyone know what this might be

Update a few hours later: I got a call back from a bank employee. She said just show something with a stamp from the embassy with my name on it. She was pretty honest and said bring documents they don’t even ask for. Like driving licenses, rental contracts. After a few minutes of looking at paperwork, they might just open the account. She agreed that their rules are somewhat weird and confusing and I shouldn’t just try again 😂

Update 2: the embassy sent me instructions how to order a Staatsangehörigkeits- und Anmeldebestätigung ( english: proof of citizenship and registration as swiss living in Thailand) from the ministry of foreign affairs online which i ordered now and will receive by post. I will ask them for permission to post it here to show you all as an example

Hello,

I was approved for the DTV and proceeded to apply for my husband and two children (9 and 10) as dependents. Our flight leaves tomorrow and my dependents have still not been approved. They requested quite a few documents that we had to put together which has extended the application time.

What happens if they enter Thailand tomorrow on the tourist visa and then get approved for the DTV? Will it invalidate the DTV since they would be issued the tourist visa? Or will the DTV override the tourist visa once it is approved?

I appreciate any help or advice!

Just got approved for soft power medical from Washington DC. Was super simple. Made an appointment at Bangkok Hospital and submitted that email confirmation. They requested a more official letter so I emailed the hospital for an official letter of appointment which they provided within 24 hrs. Another 24 hrs later DTV approved. I definitely recommend the soft power options if your self employed / business owner but providing certain documents is going to be difficult.

Hello I wanted to ask about the requirements for DTV as a freelancer (interior designer)

These are the things I prepared for this

-visa form

- bank statement

- portfolio

- my recent work projects

if I need any more requirements would you please kindly tell me✨

Do I need my client letter or is this enough?? I'll be applying at Laos Vientiane. Would it be easier there?? Can you share me any experience about applying visa there. Thank you.
